Yep, and the fact that the olympics was held in Sydney pushed all property prices unrealistically highOriginally posted by dragg:partly because of the appreciated australian $?

Land is scarce... that's why there's a high density per plot.Originally posted by dragg:land are scarce. how many times have we heard this? yet we see plots and plots of land not developed at all.
A$600K+ for that place? I knew prices were silly in Sydney, but that's outright ridiculous.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:That's what we thought too, thus we weren't that keen on buying the house. And dragg, this house would cost approx. 800,000 SGD. So expensive!
i wan sth like this too!Originally posted by Rhonda:I wonder if anyone has used one of their spare rooms and renovated it to become an entertainment centre?
I'd love to do that, of course, if the purse's fat enough. Imagine... sound-proof your walls, put heavy draperies on the windows, carpet the room, plush couches, good surround sound system... Imagine... you can watch movies there, enjoy your music, play games and BLAST the hell outta your enemies when you turn up the volume...
after reading this post, i suddenly have the urge to improve our movie roomOriginally posted by Rhonda:I wonder if anyone has used one of their spare rooms and renovated it to become an entertainment centre?

I knocked down a wall seperating a room and the living room and replaced it with glass. it's not a entertaiment centre but the "cosy" room will have a piano, a floor-to-roof pigeon hole book shelfs, wine rack, carpet flooring, plush half-sofa.Originally posted by Rhonda:I wonder if anyone has used one of their spare rooms and renovated it to become an entertainment centre?

Wahhhhh Rhonda!!! I'm not having that much problems. In fact I'm having more work problems than renovation problems. It's the time I have to spend on work that is making it difficult for me to juggle between the two!!! Plus I'll be gone for over a week travelling!Originally posted by Rhonda:Elindra seems to be having tons of that lately. I thought we could start a thread on renovations to share our experiences with this or to imagine how we'd renovate our pad should we do it.
Phua Chu Kang not invited to this discussion, ah!
Well, we never know, maybe we'll end up in Melbourne one day, if hubby gets a job there! I'd really prefer Perth, though (yea tho some ppl think it may be a dangerous place to go to )Originally posted by Gedanken:A$600K+ for that place? For the same price, my best mate just bought a 2-storey townhouse in Kew, polished floorboards and all the mod cons included, with eight private schools within walking distance to boot. Even at that rate, I thought it was a questionable purchase - still and all, it's a nice place.
Maybe you ought to think about becoming MelbourneLibrarian instead!
Yup! Yup!Originally posted by shinta:i wan sth like this too!

Yea... the house we were looking at was about that price, reason being it was in a good suburb, near private schools, university, shopping ctres, churches, parks. But it was a tad small at 500 sqm (land area).
hey do you know much about houses? building materials & that sorta stuff?
I have PS2 Can't wait to plug it into my new TV to playOriginally posted by Rhonda:Yup! Yup!
For the playstation bit, I'll be Player 2, battling my guy in some game! hehehe!! If I lose too much too often, just throw a tantrum and say, 'AAAaaaargh!! Not fun anymore!!' *fling joystick onto couch and sulk in a corner...
In my teenage years, it was the Nintendo that brought my mom and I closer... we'd sit and play games together, and as we play, we'd chat.
hehehe...Originally posted by elindra:I have PS2 Can't wait to plug it into my new TV to play
Too bad Chris is not interested in games. Haha but my dad and mum had so much fun competing between themselves especially withe Tetris and Puzzle Bobble.
The funny thing is that I'm a pretty hardcore gamer, but none of my bfs are gamersOriginally posted by Rhonda:hehehe...
