What I've learnt from Computer / Video Games

Playing such games do teach you some stuff along the way.
When I was in Lower Sec, playing 'Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?' taught me the Capitals of several countries.
Then, there was Sword of the Samurai, where I learnt a little about Japanese feudal society and the names of a few swords and clans. Also a bit about strategy during warfare, though not sure how that would be useful! haha!
SimCity taught a lot about urban planning, transport networks, etc.
So, if games are a source of education, play on!
Give me excess of it that surfeiting, the mind won't tire of the stimulation and so thrive!
(Sorry, Sir Shakespeare, for vandalising that famous line from 12th Night!)

Have you tried playing GTA San Andreas? You learn will learn a lot more things about life in that game

When I was in primary school, I played neopets and I learn a lot- From html, english to taking good care of the pets and knowing how to play a game well and a lot of other stuff.

I'm waiting for Mall Tycoon 2 to arrive on our shores. I enjoyed Mall Tycoon - good concept but it left quite a bit to be desired, especially in the graphics dept.
Aahh... time to play with my new toy now!
I wonder when I can afford that PS2 and PSP! PS2 should be cheaper now that they're launching a newer model soon! -

i've learnt that some computer games inspire people to write insanely scary environmental music which will cause nightmares - Quake which was scored by musical madman-genius Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails (the soundtrack was playable on normal CD players)
i've learnt the intricacies of the play between downforce, gearing ratios, braking ratios, types of tyres, aerodynamics, suspension, and more will affect how a car performs and drives, causing oversteering, understeering and stability... (Grand Prix games)
i've learnt that eating a roast chicken will heal you after you've been shot a few times (Wolfenstein 3D)
i've learnt trajectory, power, windspeed, position.. will affect your survivability and ability to destroy your enemy (tank wars)
and lots more lessons which you can use in real life -

lolx, but it's ok, after that, I got myself this roller coaster tycoon pc game and I can say, I thoroughly enjoyed myself........only for a while -
YOu might enjoy Theme Park Tycoon then... Hahahaha!!! I can't play Mortal Kombat to save my life... but I loved to watch folks playing it! Sat right next to my brother each time he played it. I learnt that cats and dogs are good for nothing except peeing and pooing all over the house in The Sims : Bustin' Out for the GBA. Ended up returning the critters to the pet store.
And I've learnt that it pays to save up to buy that expensive robot that does all the housework so you can go out and earn more money or just have fun.
And that if you mowed over the chickens in your uncle's farm, it's ok - it'll just fertilise the ground so more weeds will grow.

Ah, if you play The Sims, you learn that in order to get ahead in life, you really HAVE to cheat! hahahaha!!! Those cheatcodes and especially the magic mirror you can download in one fan site is really necessary for your Sims to get ahead in life!
Also, in The Sims, you learn that it's more fun to cheat and get truckloads of money than to go to work. -
when i played The Urbz: Sims in the City on the GBA, no cheating was necessary
you just had to find ways to earn money.. and learn how to invest!

i didn't know tycoon games so violent one
should have played them

The really funny thing is sometimes, when someone gets flung off, you see their faces getting closer and closer until they fill up your entire screen and you can see their face contorted in a silent scream as they get flung into oblivion... very very veeeeeeeery satisfying!!!
I'm quite a bitch... I can imagine a few folks I'd love to put on that Roller Coaster with sheer glee! -
I've learnt that:
1. start building your base and army only when the war has already started, and better yet, start with no money at all, collect money only when the war has started, dont worry, if you are a good commander, you can get rich and win the war at the same time.
2. you can jump higher by throwing grenades at your own feet.
3. you can get chopped up or hit full of bullets and only has 1/100 of your life left, and still be able to do everything like a completely healthy person.
4. people will kill you if your try to steal 1 cent from them.
5. you can destroy tanks by firing rifles at them. -
