I wish more people would think like that! I feel bad seeing these old folks still working hard because they've probably worked hard all their lives already and ought to be enjoying their retirement years. It's already bad to have to work not to pass time but for subsistence but what makes it worse is total disrespect and inconsideration from the general public.Originally posted by StarPuppy:singapore too snob liao...got maids and got mommy to clean up....some of them don't even help the auntie when she comes cleaning...i always put my bowls all in one corner and put the scarps and bones in the bowl, make it easy for them to clean....
The ppl no consideration, those auntie so old already, must make things easy for them la
YES!!Originally posted by elindra:Well, I think it is really up to an individual. I grew up with a majie and a maid. My cousins grew up with maids as well, and I don't see us turning into horrible snobs!
I think education by parents play a part as well. Any domestic help was always treated as part of the family and we were always taught to address the maid as 'jie jie' or 'auntie', depending on the age. We were punished if there was any disrespect to the maid as well, so I guess if the parents treat the maid as a slave and not even the basic respect given to a human being, their kids will just follow suit.
Oh! I read about that and at that point of time, I thought the brat's mother deserved to be slapped as wellOriginally posted by the Bear:i remember a newspaper article where an unidentified man slapped a child (who was not his) at Borders because the child was being a total brat and making a lot of noise...
there were calls for him to hang around and slap the brat's mother too

Think of it this way... our tastebuds are located on the tongue, and not along the throat. So, when you let the food linger in your mouth a little longer, the tastebuds get to work, and you enjoy the taste and smell of the food thoroughly.
Everytime I had to eat fast in the tearoom at work, I end up having a really bad tummyache later or worse, on a few occasions, the bolus got stuck in my oesophagus and I started to choke and cough and tears came out when I tried to swallow. Yucks. I just cannot eat fast.
There are enzymes in the saliva released in your mouth that aids in the digestion too. You've got to give it a bit of time to work well. And of course, thoroughly masticating (chewing) your food breaks it down and aids digestion too.
All said, it is healthier to not eat too fast! The Nurse has spoken! hehehehe!!

amazin..i shud learn ur study habit... i often get stressed frm doin nothin n boredom when in reality, there r heaps of things to do..Originally posted by Rhonda:Hmm... since we're talking about deadlines, I guess each time I'm assigned a project, my habit would be to plan a work schedule, organise a list of things to do, then set out to do the preliminary 'ground work'.
BUT, I'm not textbook perfect because somewhere in the middle, I'll 'lose steam' and slow down a lot and nua!
And then, at the last trimester, I'll speed up and pick up the slack. Tie up loose ends, put the finishing touches... voila!
Last trimester still ends up very stressful sometimes, depending on how much I nua'd in the 2nd trimester!
muahahaah...... i have this habit too.... i finish my food really fast as compared to other female frens of mine...... ;POriginally posted by the Bear:how's this for a habit?
