Somtimes when i walk in AMK central, there are some "surveyers" always ready to catch unawareOriginally posted by kops21:I was reading strait times on Fed Up with Flag Days, and trying to relate that to my experiences....
as far as i can recall, flags days have been part and parcel of Saturdays activities at bus interchange. I always dread of going to bus interchange and have to give part of my miserable weekly allowance to the charity. If not possible to avoid bus interchange, i will drop a coin into the charity tin at the first instant, grab a sticker and paste it on my chest or somewhere very prominent. In order to fend off the rest of this "collector"....
nowadays, i venture into bus interchange & Mrt station rarely, thus do not have the opportunity to meet this flag "collector". The last time i met one, at the MRT(last month), i prompted grab a $1 coin and put onto charity can even though there are other smaller coins with me. After reflecting on the action....har.....what happens to me? CouldnÂ’t it be because i seldom see those flag collector that is why i am not sick of their sight? Or is it i am piss off with those tv charity, that i feel flag collection, are more pleasing to my sense than tv charities?
i donÂ’t know about you folks, but i rather piss off at those tv charity shows. it is a waste of $ on those charity and dont deserved my donation. I have not make a single call god knows for how many years. Even at the beginning when i do make a few calls, it is more for the "lucky draw" than really take it as a donation. Mechaim like buying toto like that, if you buy even a single entry there is a chance that you might strike. if you dont buy, you dont have any opportunity.
why do we make calls on the tv charity? is it because we care or is it because of the prizes? or is it because this idiot person doing something stupid of the tv
i am not fed up with charity. too much charity drive makes me tired/annoying to see them again and again.
no, thank you!!Originally posted by Troy437:I only donate to those who make it a point to ask me to donate at the same time telling me the organisation they represent.

Or attractive young girls, wearing figure-hugging top with barely there skirts, drawing commission selling charity tickets.Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah, we don't need to see the contorted faces of TCS stars blown up on our TV screens to spur us to donate!
Yeah, or the top prize of a car / condo when you donate and the more you donate, the higher your chances of winning.Originally posted by Gackt247:Or attractive young girls, wearing figure-hugging top with barely there skirts, drawing commission selling charity tickets.
Or pple who pursue passers-by n drill abt how the handicapped r suffering while they draw commision from the number of "sales" they have made.Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah, or the top prize of a car / condo when you donate and the more you donate, the higher your chances of winning.
This just makes my blood boil! Imagine profiteering from charity!!Originally posted by Gackt247:Or pple who pursue passers-by n drill abt how the handicapped r suffering while they draw commision from the number of "sales" they have made.
you must be very well off.Originally posted by Qitai:Never donate to TV shows before except the times when my mum use my phone to donate. All the shows are so fake.
As for street donations, I would usually check where the $$ goes to. Religious, education donation are those I would absolutely refuse to donte due to these organization being rich already most of the time.
Rather, I often donate when I am not requested to. Like when I see a charity booth representing a foundation that I had heard good things about (E.g. Ren Ci Hospital) or causes that I support. In those cases, I would even go up to them to make a donation despite them being quite passive in asking for donation.
Last year, I even made a 1K donation when I was feeling generous one fine day
Yah. I second that. I will only donate to those that approach and ask me nicelyOriginally posted by Troy437:I only donate to those who make it a point to ask me to donate at the same time telling me the organisation they represent.
