Active Social Life = $$$ ?

These past few months, I've been going out and staying out till pretty late quite often. As a result of this very active social life, I've discovered that my purse gets emptied much faster.
Just wondering... do you guys also realise that your expenses are increase in proportion to how active your social life is?
My friends and I usually hang out in cafes and restaurants. Sometimes, we walk around and find a place to sit down and yak to our hearts' content. I remember my Aussie friends and even now, friends who have studied / lived in Australia saying that there, people tend to meet in each other's house more than meeting out and as a result, they tend to save more money that way.
Seems that in the local context, it's not that common to gather at each other's house. I wonder why. Could it be that we find going to each other's homes somewhat 'boring'? -

my friend come 2 my house, watch soccer, man & woman, eat downstair,
bet on line, they even sleep @ guest room, save mid night charge taxi, they rturn home next late morning aka afteernoon -

You have lots of things to do and it's much cheaper than hanging out outside too!
I've promised a few pals to speed up with making my home more presentable so I can have them over and we can all just laze around and watch movies! hehe!
I figure I can spread all four mattresses all over the living room, and what with two large cushions, 3-4 pillows and 2 bolsters, and lotsa lotsa soft toys, I'm sure we'll have the ultimate nua-ing experience! -
Yah. Actually the speed of how fast your $ decrease depends on what kind of friends you hang out with. If you hang out with friends who have expensive tastes, your $$ will decrease faster than a speeding bullet.

Actually, is it accurate to say that when you're younger, you visit each other's homes more often than when you're a working adult? Just wondering... Could it be that working adults have more disposable income, plus because they're working, they might not spend all that time doing a thorough cleaning-up job at home thus feeling a bit more pai-seh inviting friends over to see the dust bunnies... or erm...

only if can majo will be better
but think of the noise escape to neibour better not -
tat is quite true... esp. when i take cab home
in sg it's not tat common to hang out at home cos bu fang bian mah.... we usually stay with our parents... and it's kinda awkward when someone's parents are walking in and out.. or worse, sit down and start asking qns of all our friends' family/education/etc etc....

and SG homes are usually small and cramped

Just hang out A LOT for quite a long time in any cafe and that will do you in. For instance, if you meet your friends 3-4 times a week and you spend hours in a cafe, say, Coffee Bean. You each order a beverage, then you order a slice of cake each. You talk talk talk, then you order another beverage each... and that's already what... more than $20. For the sake of the discussion, let's say, $25 after tax.
One outing $25 X 4 times in a week = $100 (per person $50) X 4 weeks in a month = $400!!
Of course, that's just guesstimate. Sometimes, the bill is more, esp if you eat a meal first before going to the cafe. Sometimes, the bill is less.
It's fun to be with friends and all... but going out sure is costly! -
