I agree totally! I suspect it's mainly that reason, and also that the culture of Singaporeans gears more towards hanging out in shopping ctres, cafes, movie theatres etc rather than at each other's houses.Originally posted by tare:tat is quite true... esp. when i take cab home
in sg it's not tat common to hang out at home cos bu fang bian mah.... we usually stay with our parents... and it's kinda awkward when someone's parents are walking in and out.. or worse, sit down and start asking qns of all our friends' family/education/etc etc....
think now, unless u got ur own plc, u probably won't have much house party.... if it's due to married, there's only a short window of opportunity.... between the excitement of housewarming to the arrival of a baby...Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:I agree totally! Although in my siblings' era (they're abt 10 yrs older), they used to bring all their friends home to chitchat & stuff like that.
We like to have friends/family to have a meal, and then sit around the table & play board games Really fun!
Hmm... in that case, mine's a 'different story'! hehehe!Originally posted by tare:think now, unless u got ur own plc, u probably won't have much house party.... if it's due to married, there's only a short window of opportunity.... between the excitement of housewarming to the arrival of a baby...
if it's cos u have the $$ to move out on ur own, now... TAT's a different story!

We do go out but we do make attempts to hang out at each other's pad to gossip, cook up a storm and just 'nua' in front of the TV watching sappy girly moviesOriginally posted by Rhonda:These past few months, I've been going out and staying out till pretty late quite often. As a result of this very active social life, I've discovered that my purse gets emptied much faster.
Just wondering... do you guys also realise that your expenses are increase in proportion to how active your social life is?
My friends and I usually hang out in cafes and restaurants. Sometimes, we walk around and find a place to sit down and yak to our hearts' content. I remember my Aussie friends and even now, friends who have studied / lived in Australia saying that there, people tend to meet in each other's house more than meeting out and as a result, they tend to save more money that way.
Seems that in the local context, it's not that common to gather at each other's house. I wonder why. Could it be that we find going to each other's homes somewhat 'boring'?
OK... next time we do that, ok?Originally posted by elindra:We do go out but we do make attempts to hang out at each other's pad to gossip, cook up a storm and just 'nua' in front of the TV watching sappy girly movies
It saves alot more money that way.

How come so "guai". No go "gai gai". I am taking a break from marinading meat for my BBQ gathering tomorrow. My menu is Tiger shrimps in crushed ginger/teriyaki sauce. Pork chops with satay marinades. So tired, just finished grinding the ingredients. Now waiting for wings to thaw so can marinade in honey/oyster sauce with rice wine. And then for veggie, I am serving sayur lodeh......the visiting M'sians and baby spinach salad for Cdns.
