BTW, is there anyone here who reads medical / scientific thrillers? Michael Palmer, John Case, Michael Crichton, Robin Cook and the like?

Michael Crichton and Robin Cook. The rest dunno who >_<'
Anyway I am kind of a fiction book junkie.
I try to be discerning in my choice of fiction novels... there are too many chi-chi, frou-frou books written by female authors out there these days. Good for a light read but you don't really get anything substantial out of it.Originally posted by Ferret:*raises paws*

The annual library sale is usually on during the 2nd week of Jan... around 8, 9, 10 JanOriginally posted by the Bear:we were there at 1 to go to the food fair.. nice to eat
then met Ferret at around 2:15pm and she already had a huge load of books
i had a huge load at one time but managed to whittle them down to 3 as the other books i took were always available in the bargain bins...
uhh.. anyone knows when the next library sale is? ferret also wants to know
Aiyah!! Missed it for this year! I remember picking up tons of mags at their sales and then coming home and reducing them to nice clips. hehe!Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:The annual library sale is usually on during the 2nd week of Jan... around 8, 9, 10 Jan
ah!Originally posted by the Bear:the place was lousy with it...
$25 for the GIANT book i bought...
or $25 for the 5 little books in a boxed set.. i chose the giant book coz the paper was better and there are illustrations
other things that were littering the whole place... LOTR - The Two Towers and LOTR - The Return Of The King...
i bet after trudging through the 1st one, many didn't bother to buy the 2nd and 3rd books
Oooh!! I love children's books too!! I especially love those that are well-illustrated and full of colour!Originally posted by shinta:ah!
u bought the giant book too!
i'm into chap 7 of book 2 liao...
i got suan a lil for buyin mainly children's books
ooh.. i sat cross-legged, with the pillow on my lap, n the book on topOriginally posted by Rhonda:Oooh!! I love children's books too!! I especially love those that are well-illustrated and full of colour!
It was a tough decision to make - to buy the heavy, giant hardcover compilation of The Chronicles of Narnia, with good-quality glossy paper and illustrations every few pages, or to get the boxed set of separate paperback on lousy paper that'll get yellow with age and with ugly font. Both were priced at $25.
I thought the giant version was more polished but how do you read a heavy hardcover book like that in bed? To hold it up, you'll need major arm muscles, man! And what if you fall asleep reading in bed, holding the book up? SPLAT!!! You'll be shocked awake with a fractured nose, nosebleed, and perhaps, a contusion. hehehe!!!
All said, if I had a nice window seat that would make it conducive to sit and read with the book on my lap, I'd prefer to get that giant version.
