building a new personal computer

  okay.. my old PII-450 is about to give up the ghost... this time, the HDD decides to work for about 15 minutes before stopping totally...
  
  time to get a new one...
  
  somewhere in my head, a fantasy personal computer comes to mind... goes something like this:

  M/B: Abit IS-7E2 with a builtin soundcard
  Intel P4 2.8C chipset
  ATI Sapphire 9600pro 256MB graphic card
  Hitachi 80Gb SATA HD ( don't get Maxtor or Seagate ).
  Kingston DDR PC3200/400 512MB RAM ( no need to get dual channel de lah ).
  LianLi casing w/450watt psu.
  A normal 'ball' mouse and a cheap keyboard ( they all works the same ).
  
  Good enough for you?

  nah.. i prefer the optical rats... no need to clean
  
  will take all these things into consideration coz i've not looked for a PC in years.. need to go do some market research.. and soon
  
  and why the 2.8 P4? why not the more brutal 3+ GHz jobs?

  If u mean those prescott cpu.........they tend to overheat very fast! No need to get so fast processor. Just a 2.4 - 2.8 ghz fast enough liao.

  1/10 ya price.....1.5 yrs ago...

  oh ya... 3.0 GHz.
  
  DIY should be even cheaper....
