Proposed Outing to the Zoo & Night Safari on Jul / Aug 2005

That was quite a while back!
Just now, Estee asked, 'What happened to the Night Safari Outing?'
So, let's get ready for an outing to the Night Safari, or the Zoo and Night Safari, one night in Jul / Aug! Let's avoid June because this being the school holidays, we'll probably be running into crowds.
From now till then, let's dig up some interesting facts about the zoos or the animals in the zoos to fire up the enthusiasm! -

Admission Rate to the Night Safari alone is S$18.00, inclusive of GST.
Animal Show: 8pm, 9pm & 10pm daily.( weather permitting)
Venue: The Amphitheatre
There are Park Hopper Special admission rates available. If we visit BOTH the Zoo AND the Night Safari, the combined admission tickets will cost S$25.00, a savings of $7.00. (Usual Price : S$32.00; Zoo's Admission Tix are S$14.00 each).
So, we have plenty of time to think and decide... should we :
1) Visit the Night Safari only; OR
2) Visit the Night Safari AND the Zoo, both on the same day; OR
3) Visit the Night Safari on one day, and the zoo on another day.
The Park Hopper Special admission tickets are valid for 1 month from the date of purchase.
I vote for Option 3, because I think if we are to explore the places thoroughly, we need stamina to cover all that area. Also, after walking through the zoo for an entire day and sweating like crazy, esp since Jul / Aug are traditionally really hot months, I don't wanna us all to stink and scare off the animals in the Night Safari with our collective erm... 'scent'!

There are a few new births in the Night Safari!!
A Flying Squirrel!! Born on 10 Dec 2004! He'd only be 7-8 months old when we visit him!!
Still a baby! Awwwww.... 
Some facts about the flying squirrel :
- It doesn't really fly, it glides, sort of like an eagle except it never has to flap any wings. There are blanket-like membranes of skin between its wrists and hindlegs that give it the ability to glide long distances.
- They have long, flattened tails that are used to guide their glides.
- They have large eyes, or "bug eyes", I like to call them.
- Flying squirrels are nocturnal rodents, which means they feed at night on fruits, nuts, buds, and insects.
- They nest in hollow trees, deserted buildings, and birdhouses.
- These gregarious mammals seldom descend to the ground.
- This is a sociable little animal with strong maternal instincts.
- They have been known to make affectionate and playful pets.
- Its principal enemies are owls and cats. -

The more I look at it, the more I think there's some sorta resemblance to the Flying Squirrel! Distant cousin, perhaps?
I think the li'l Flying Squirrel's tail is much nicer than Pikachu's! Look at how bushy it is!! -
Throw away the books, let's head to the zoo
Catch some Orang Utans, snakes and goats too
Time to cool off with yummy ice cream
Look, that necklace would be mama's dream
A perfect birthday gift for her
But we'll have to save for another year
Let's dig into our pockets, me and you
Maybe a little teddy bear will just have to do

i would prefer nite safari too.... more cooling, plus i sure can wake up on time! but going back might be a tad challenging..... there very far frm my place leh, cab fare could kill.....

i love the zoo.. when or if i get back to an office hour gig, i'm going to be a volunteer at the zoo -
