Wow... very experienced... spoken like a true pro!Originally posted by The man who was death:I read my FHM at the esplanade library. From my experience from browsing at mags at the esplanade, I have to say rock mags like Kerrang! probably have more explicit photos of girls than FHM
Gee, Female doesn't exactly reflect the majority of Singapore's female population. And I'm sure glad it doesn't!! If you go by the portrayal of local ladies there, you'd think we're all materialistic, sexually promiscuous (or should I attempt to be politically correct and say 'sexually liberated' ) and not family-oriented.Originally posted by X-men:I once heard gals read these magazines to understand guys...just like guys read Female to understand gals
I totally agree with your mum here!! That's why I've boycotted buying such mags and only stuck with Singapore Women's Weekly & some other health mags for now. And I thought I was the only one here who thought like this.Originally posted by Rhonda:Gee, Female doesn't exactly reflect the majority of Singapore's female population. Hmm... wondering if it's a reflection of the change in times...
Mom used to read Her World and Female avidly and I got to leaf through her mags waaay back in the '70's and '80's. (She stopped purchasing them in the '90's because she said there was too much sex sex sex, men men men, money money money in it. Back then, she was muttering about the 'lack of moral values these days'!)
Back then, these two mags would feature more wholesome articles on friendships, relationships, housekeeping tips, recipes, etc. You would not see articles on sex, or if you did, they would be very subtle and restrained. You certainly wouldn't see racy / sex-centric / scandalous headlines like, 'How to make him beg for more...', 'I dated more than three men at a time!', 'My husband had an affair with our maid', etc etc.
Whilst these articles do serve to 'educate' us more on a subject once considered taboo, part of me wonders whether it's worth sacrificing moral values for a more 'liberated' sexual orientation. It's good to know such things, but to promote 'loose' values is quite something else.

Whilst it's one thing to learn good techniques to please your lover / husband in bed, it's quite another to learn it so that you can bed as many men as you wish.
Ah well, it all boils down to personal choice, I guess. The point can also be brought up that one shouldn't limit education and knowledge just to keep someone ignorant and thus, preserve morals because it's ultimately an individual's right to choose how he/she lives his/her life.
Ethics and morals... always a grey area!
Ah well, they won't change for the world... cause sex and scandals SELL like hot cakes!Originally posted by X-men:Hahahaha... ok
maybe I should feedback to my friends working for that Magazine
i volunteer my service!Originally posted by Rhonda:Many times I've wanted to buy FHM too, to see things from a typical guy's perspective... but then, I never got round to doing it. Mental block, maybe? If I have a guy I can read the mag with, then it's a different thing altogether.

I am also "well rounded" mah. In fact, may have to put my clothes up for garage sale. Help me pray for good weather. And then with the sale money, can go get a new wardrobe. But one size up.
