The class is quite useful. It's at Canon DMH at Bugis I thinkOriginally posted by Rhonda:There's a Canon promotion right now in conjunction with the Great Singapore Sale. You can see details in the poster on Page 1 of this thread.
My digicam-baby was supposed to be sold at a recommended retail price of $499 but I got it at PS Computers at Funan Ctr for just $459 and it's still inclusive of the freebies that come along with it during this promtional period. Naturally, I was mighty pleased!
I think I'll read the manual some more and try to absorb as much as I can and then put it into practice. The digicam-baby came with a free lesson too, but I think I will schedulue it later, after I get to spend more time practicing on it first so that if I have questions, I can ask them all in class.
The shots are very amateurish but I think, good enough for me.
I'll be registering for a class later, I think. Now is too soon. I have a habit of trying to find the answers to my questions first via research / reading up and plain trial and error first before asking.Originally posted by LazerLordz:The class is quite useful. It's at Canon DMH at Bugis I think
er... how does A 520 looks like? impress tat the optical zoom can zoom from 7th floor n wats the price?Originally posted by Rhonda:Thanks, Ratty!
So, you might wanna consider buying the Canon A520. Loads of functions! It's cheaper than the Exilims but then again, you get tons of features for the A520 whereas for the Exilims, you're paying for the design and the smaller size.
So, would you prefer beauty, or would you prefer heavy-duty functionalism?
I'm going to have fun over the next few weeks / months, harnessing the full power of my digicam-baby!
I like baking (but not cooking - that's my hubby's specialty )Originally posted by littlestream:Hee hee.......Syd, sorry hor, my neighbours didn't get to taste my cookies. Did you get tricked by the phrase "Back door friends are best"?
I brought it to the office instead. Want to join me in the Bank?
Do you bake? I love cooking and baking (my friends from my young adult days will die if they hear this). But I only abuse the kitchen/oven during festivity.
Hmm... the 'grab and pay' mentality?Originally posted by Rhonda:Hmm... was just talking to SL about my new acquisition, my digicam-baby, when she asked 'Who did you go with to buy it?'
Then I realised, I shopped like a man this time round!!
Prior to the purchase, I did all my 'homework'. Then, when I was ready to buy, I just walked into the shop, said, 'Hello! I want to buy a Canon A520 digicam' and that was it.
I didn't realise it till SL asked me. This is such atypical shopping behaviour for me! Shopping like a man!!
Oh, thanks!Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Hmm... the 'grab and pay' mentality?
I like your shots, Rhonda! V. nice Can't wait to see more
Eh, Ratty, all your questions have already been answered at some point in this thread so I'm going to make you work for your answer - you'd have to sieve through the posts!Originally posted by RaTtY81:er... how does A 520 looks like? impress tat the optical zoom can zoom from 7th floor n wats the price?

SLR = Single Lens Reflex - supposed to give you the most accurate focal & framing control. It has one lens that is used for viewing through and taking pics.
Wah, so lucky one ah. Hubby does the cooking ah? I am the chef in the house ley. Hubby is good around the house and yard so we sort of balance each other that way. Besides, he plays competitive squash so he also very boh eng. Yeah, he "gor chap" already but very good in squash. When he first join the club and beat everybody, the ang mohs must be thinking "where this china man come from?"Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:I like baking (but not cooking - that's my hubby's specialty )
lol I doubt the bank you're in has any librarian / researcher job available! mebbi next time if I ever come by your way I can try your delicacies? *hopeful smile*
When I was comparing specs, I realised that for the IXUS, you pay more for less, literally - smaller size, less features. The Powershot is bulkier, and not as pretty but whoa, it has lots more features! When I checked with the salesperson before making my purchase, he said the same thing.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Yep
Powershot is what Rhonda is using, IXUS is a slim digicam made by Canon too, but it only has digital zoom.
SLRs.They are cameras where you can also change lenses for different situations.Basically, there is more versatility to be had.
I'll let sensei jOhO explain more about SLRs.
