My digicam-baby was supposed to be sold at a recommended retail price of $499 but I got it at PS Computers at Funan Ctr for just $459 and it's still inclusive of the freebies that come along with it during this promtional period.
Naturally, I was mighty pleased!
I think I'll read the manual some more and try to absorb as much as I can and then put it into practice. The digicam-baby came with a free lesson too, but I think I will schedulue it later, after I get to spend more time practicing on it first so that if I have questions, I can ask them all in class.
The shots are very amateurish but I think, good enough for me. -

(Y'know, sadly, a lot of tutors would misinterpret my silence as me being 'uninterested' but it's actually me wanting to clear my doubts by doing further reading and research by myself first.
So, folks who don't bother to read nor do their research, and ask all sorts of silly questions would be labelled as 'a very interested and motivated student' whilst I'd be sitting there thinking, 'this person did not read her notes and didn't bother to do background reading'. )
Maybe, I'll meet fellow amateur digicam-baby fans there too, and then, can go out and take amateur photos together. If it's fellow GENTLEMEN digicam-baby users, even better still!! -

Hmm... was just talking to SL about my new acquisition, my digicam-baby, when she asked 'Who did you go with to buy it?'
Then I realised, I shopped like a man this time round!!
Prior to the purchase, I did all my 'homework'. Then, when I was ready to buy, I just walked into the shop, said, 'Hello! I want to buy a Canon A520 digicam' and that was it.
I didn't realise it till SL asked me. This is such atypical shopping behaviour for me! Shopping like a man!! -

Powershot is what Rhonda is using, IXUS is a slim digicam made by Canon too, but it only has digital zoom.
SLRs.They are cameras where you can also change lenses for different situations.Basically, there is more versatility to be had.

Hubby is good around the house and yard so we sort of balance each other that way. Besides, he plays competitive squash so he also very boh eng. Yeah, he "gor chap" already but very good in squash. When he first join the club and beat everybody, the ang mohs must be thinking "where this china man come from?"
No ah, our bank has an in house library so yes ah, we have librarian/researcher. And yes, if you ever come by this part of the world, let me know. Spring is the best time unless you want to see fall colours. But Sydney also got fall mah. If you come in summer, too hot. Can "peng san".

yea littlestream, i think i'm v. lucky to have found a hubby like mine! Esp. my mum, she loves getting cooking tips from him! When my parents come over for hols, they usually spend lots of time in the kitchen cooking up a storm

When I was comparing specs, I realised that for the IXUS, you pay more for less, literally - smaller size, less features. The Powershot is bulkier, and not as pretty but whoa, it has lots more features! So, I guess you can imagine that the IXUS is kinda like a beauty without brains! Very swee but you cannot hold a nice conversation with her. And the Powershot would then be the brains without the beauty, not swee at all, but you can hold interesting discussions with her from many angles!
So, Ratty, which one would you go for? Pressure, pressure!! -
LazerLordz, last night, my photo assignment FAILED!
I turned on the ISO and tried various ISO's, tried different modes too - Auto, Night Scenery, and Panoramic... but all yielded photos that were black with pinpricks of light here and there.
I guess that was way above my level. I still haven't figured out how to do the 'open shutter' thing on my digicam.
Ah well, one baby step at a time! For the moment, I'll stick to simpler tasks! -
