Anaesthesia used on a spider?!

Yup... just saw it on TV, in those publicity clips being generated for the Spiderman movie that will be screened on TCS 5 this Sunday.
Did you know that the spider that bit Peter Parker was painted red and blue whilst it was under sedation?!!
The things these special effects people would do, to get that special effect just right! -
Now, I can't help wondering if they strapped the poor spider to a monitoring machine whilst they were busy body-painting it!
Kena caught not bad enough... it also kena drugged, molested, body-painted, then had to act a bit part without any wages nor minimum employee benefits, then presumably released back in the wild where its strange colouring will prevent it from attracting mating partners for the rest of its sorry life, and then the lead from the paint will end up killing it slowly...
What a life!
