Elevator, lift, "dian ti"........

Sorry hor.....I think classified as "wu liao" thread.
But just want to know. If you step into an elevator and while waiting for the door to close, you hear footsteps.....but don't see the person. Do you press "door open" or "door close"?
I've done both

The courteous thing to do would be to hold the door open and take a peek outside to see if anyone is rushing for the elevator and, if so, wait for him/her/them to enter.
The kiasu thing to do would be to repeatedly mash the "door close" button in the hopes of getting the elevator all to yourself.
I think I know which option a typical Singaporean would choose.

I will press "door open".. especially if i hear the sound of high heels approaching.

anyway if i dun see anyone i wont press door open cos if that person is close enuff for me to hear footsteps that person is probably near enuff to press the bottun outside. -
yah loh.. got kenna once..
the lift door was closing, then suddenly it opened again.. nobody was outside.
then i tried to close it, and it open again..
this time, a cat was passing by outside the lift.. it turn to face the lift and started meowing..
It finally close on the 3rd time.. i reached my floor and ran straight to my hse.. -

I know of one incident. This person in the elevator heard footsteps. So quickly press "door close". Just as the doors were about to touch, it opened again. The person outside managed to step up to press door open from outside.
Do you think if I am the person inside or outside? -

Good question but I won't hold the lift and will likely walk out if the male stranger step in. Even if it was daytime. I was almost violated in the elevator when I was a very very young teen. The guy was a student as well. Fortunately, I fought him off but I got punched in the nose too. Till today, I can remember the incident as if it was yesterday. The whole scene plus the image of the guy.

anyway, wat happened? someone was coming then you purposely close the door ah? Is it cause of the trauma of what happen to u when you were younger? -
Yeap.....I was very grateful to God. The strange part was I don't know he got in. Because as I stepped in, I turned around and immediately, he was in my face. I can't remember his face but the image, yes, like the height and size. Maybe by now, he must have evolved.......but to don't know what lah. Fat, thin, taller?? When he stopped the attacks, I shouted at him for being so irresponsible and I remembered he just laughed it off with a sneer. As I stepped out of the elevator as soon as the door opened, he grabbed my arm and punched me in the nose. Now, re-thinking about it made gives me shivers. Yeap. I am very wary with elevators. I used to work on the 6th of an inhouse office building. That means, the whole building belongs to the company so everyone walks around with security badges. But still, when I am in the elevator with other people, I am like always on the "ready". Sad, right? -

Besides, I don't consider that I have good family support then. I told my step mum but she didn't do anything. Okay, I think I better stop otherwise I will really cry. Bye. -
