You're so right, sinful is the word! Try making it and you'll realise how much oil/lard and sugar are needed to create that taste. Then again, KFC fried chicken is sinful too, so is Magnum ice-cream....*sigh*...so we all choose our own weaknesses to surrender to.Originally posted by the Bear:i'm partial to the traditional type of yam paste...
where they have pumpkin paste in it too.. and also, the dreaded rendered LARD which shallots is fried in and poured then stirred into the paste
it's sickly sweet and oh-so-sinfully wonderful

At those old-fashioned Teochew restaurant - there's one at ground floor of Keypoint which my parents like. The Orh nee really contains pumpkin.Originally posted by choco B:Where to get huh?

Cockles are the only shellfish I don't take!Originally posted by Wanda:Has "Orh3-nee1" (sticky yam paste dessert) made the list yet? I dun like it.
People who dislike cockles - does it mean you also dislike oysters, clams and mussels, since they are from the same shellfish family and have very similar texture? I like cockles in laksa and fried kweh teow. Without cockles, I won't bother to eat the laksa.
ps: what about abalone? it's also a shellfish.

See oysters, clams and mussels do not have that awful smell of stale blood like cockles do.
It's not the texture. It is the smell and the taste
You're always hungry!!!Originally posted by the Bear:stale?
hmm... must have been bad cockles you had
i love that taste..
damn.. i'm hungry again
Originally posted by elindra:You're always hungry!!!
All cockles smells like stale blood to me. The color also looks like blood that is drying up

Hey, foga! I frequently go to that desserts stall there to get my favourite desserts too! In fact, I know the auntie there pretty well and if I go before the crowd comes in, she'll always stop to chit-chat with me.Originally posted by foga:commonwealth market loh
