It's been more than 1.5 years now and I guess I'm just allergic to something in my workplace. I've stopped using the strong, harsh liquid soap and put on plastic gloves before the latex gloves but it still persists. 
The Dermatologist says that the too-frequent handwashing we did during the SARS period totally ruined the surface layer of the skin and once ruined, it takes a long long time to heal. 
Even eating potato chips hurt. Can you imagine I actually have to use chopsticks sometimes to eat chips?

this explains why patches of my fingers get sore with no obvious wounds
some idiot in sch told me it was safe to wash hands with. -
