I was thinking it was cheap cos of the size of the advertising campaign. Imagine when you take MRT or bus, U're going to see BIG BIG poster of your A_ss, your flabby stomach and watever 5 cents/ 10cents on your legs leh!! Not to mention that you'll see yourself during prime time.. If it were me, I'll be a bit paiseh to stand beside a poster of me in underwear at a busstop..
yah, but it's quite fun.. and something to brag abt when you're old lah.. -
Its a new campaign that Dove is launching very aggressively. Internally, we see alot of posters being put up reminding us of real beauty. You can go to this website which they launched also. http://www.campaignforrealbeauty.com/
A good direction putting in mind that most people have preset definition of beauty. This campaign aims to shatter those perceptions. Whether it is successful will take time to see lah

For the past few years in the US, there's actually been a slow but gradual 'movement' by women to change public perception about beauty using just the criteria of looks and weight.
For instance, there have been requests made to women's mags like 'O' by Oprah Winfrey, Vogue, etc. to use models with 'real-life proportions'. The argument is, how many women out there are Size 3's? On the other hand, the real average-figured woman far outnumber the petites.
There's now even plus-sized Supermodels in the US, and also a magazine, Mode, devoted to the generously-proportioned ladies.
Judging from some of the reactions here, we've got a looooooong way to go before we can gain an understanding that all shapes of women, and yes, that means the big ones too, are beautiful in their own unique way.
That is the marketing intention driving Dove's latest campaign and I fully support it. -

I have tried to make this point before, but then I got accused of being fat for saying so...cos they think only fat people will side with not-so-thin body size

Actually, the girls in the pictures are not fat mah.. it's just that they are not thin only.. anyway, it's quite refreshing to see them put real ppl with the typical body size in singpore.. So sick of of being bombarded with too many slimming ads (like marie-france, tummy trim, jean yip... etc. etc)...
So true. It's really getting silly how these slimming pills/centres are popping up all over the place. On top of that, the ones that use already skinny models like Fann Wong to promote their supposed effectiveness seems somewhat deceiving to me

Alot of local thin girls are not toned. That's why they score low on Body in beauty pageants - thin but flabby. No muscle definition.
The girls on the Dove ads are not thin, but healthy and vibrant. It's a refreshing image.
As for the men who say "CMI", ach men will be men *shrug*. I don't expect them all to get it. I think some men have grown to objectify women, expecting them to be perfect, pretty and pleasing all the time.

Oh to answer the question, I'd be willing to do this ad for the principle of it, and I dare to do it, but I'm not sure if I can stand the comments from family etc so ultimately... No I'd not do it

Really quite shallow to judge someone based on their physical attributes and beauty or supposed lack of thereof. But oh well, that's the yardstick that's commonly used on women.
Actually, if we turned the tables around, a lot of men also cmi! Oddly enough, why are women judged harsher than men -

Seriously though, I do know of more enlightened, less judgemental and mature folks who don't just see your outer casing and judge you based on that alone. Sadly, these folks are the exceptions rather than the rule.
It's odd... it's my body, I don't have much of a problem with it (I mean, it works, it functions, it's pretty fit), but it seems as if everyone else around me does.
