Yup! And the self-confidence and fun-loving spirit in those women just shone through! They're radiant in that ad.Originally posted by sbst275:Well.. I dun think a woman would really mind showing herself...
At least she has pride on her body
If I had the chance during dating, I would rather see her w/o makeup...Originally posted by Rhonda:Yup! And the self-confidence and fun-loving spirit in those women just shone through! They're radiant in that ad.
Good observation...did you see the photo of Vivien Tan's body in that $12k dress at IOC event?Originally posted by choco B:Alot of local thin girls are not toned. That's why they score low on Body in beauty pageants - thin but flabby. No muscle definition.
Originally posted by Rhonda:Actually, if we turned the tables around, a lot of men also cmi! Oddly enough, why are women judged harsher than men
Hahaha.. you must've seen it in Rhonda's posts, right? If I'm not wrong she's the only one who does that here.... v. cute hor?!Originally posted by Wanda:Good observation...did you see the photo of Vivien Tan's body in that $12k dress at IOC event?
BTW, can someone care to tell me what is 'cmi' ...and also there's something like 'ptpptpptp....?' I'm not very in tune with such new terms.

It's wise for guys to do that... and see if they can imagine themselves waking up and first thing in the morning, turn around in bed and see their wife sans makeup and not puke.Originally posted by sbst275:If I had the chance during dating, I would rather see her w/o makeup...
Actually, woman w/o makeup look betterOriginally posted by Rhonda:It's wise for guys to do that... and see if they can imagine themselves waking up and first thing in the morning, turn around in bed and see their wife sans makeup and not puke.
You know, I find it kinda creepy and scary that there are women in the gym (I call them 'posers') who turn up for workouts with sexy exercise gear, FULL MAKEUP on, and they'll stand right in front of the mirror, and the ENTIRE class, never take their eyes off the mirror, admiring their bodies. All of us would be sweating after the workout but these posers would still have their makeup immaculately on, and not a drop of sweat!
I guess they're there to try to hook one of the ang moh's who turn up.
not necessarily wor.....Originally posted by sbst275:Actually, woman w/o makeup look better
Always now... The 1st thing when I wake up, is to see her face w/o makeup...Originally posted by tare:not necessarily wor.....

Originally posted by Wanda:ChocoB - the $12k dress is not my cup of tea, and the colour doesn't seem to match Vivien's complexion, making her look a bit dull...blame it on the stylist.

Actually, I was looking at yest's article. The pic shown on this thread is the one they took for the interview. There's another photo featuring the 6 of them used in the actual Dove ad.
Out of the 6, one of them is actually very tall and slim and quite pretty! (but a bit flat lah) Only 2 of them look quite big sized, but one of them look to have slim down already.. The rest looks like the average girl/ women next door mah.
..Originally posted by choco B:See this is very typical male.
1. Look at woman.
2. Measure against preconceived standards.
3. Judge. "Need to slim down"
Not bashing huh, just an observation
It reminds me of one episode of that Project Superstar show I caught. Judges told a contestant she looks clumsy on stage, she gotta slim down. I know it's not personal, and perhaps this is crucial advice for a professional singing career. But if some stranger were to say that to me I'd probably tell him/her to F* off

wat did i say?
Maybe misunderstanding ba... the slim one i say pretty, was referring to the face. got a impish, sporty look.. am i making it sound worse?
Amen to that!Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:I am a Christian who believes that our Creator made us in His own image - and to say that a lady (or man) cannot make it is like insulting His creation. Like saying that even what God made isn't good enough for us. I mean, if you were a parent & someone comes up to you & says your daughter/son cannot make it cos he's too fat/ugly etc etc, how would you feel? Insulted, right? You'd probably ask the person to go fly kite (to put it mildly)
Also, I feel that we should be encouraging women such as these ladies in the Dove ads and not making them feel so self-conscious about their looks. If men want women who look perfect all the time it not only puts tremendous pressure on women (some might go for liposuction & all that jazz), but, more importantly, what kind of values are we implanting in our kids? The kids may grow up to have low self-esteem, that everything will be perfect with plastic surgery. What a sad world this would be if we were to follow the Hollywood style of living!
Anyway, just airing my views on this topic
