Once the casino cum theme park is out in Marina, they should consider building a Grand Prix circuit there and bring the Grand Prix back to Singapore!
Dad was driving mom and I around Marina to look-see on Sunday and he told us that years back, Singapore used to host the Grand Prix. Gee, I didn't know that!

was expecting alonso to win again but nvm my faith in mclaren was there
sweating as i watched those 2 battle it out trying not to explode their engines and tires. and i was wondering why the pitstops dont have tire changes then i remembered the new F1 rule because this is the first time i watched it live. (had to wait for my dad to leave the telly then quietly change channel and act blur)
i didnt know david was in red bull. simi team lai eh? -

my dad always told me how he brought 1 of my more senior cousins to watch the GP many years back and she got sick of it within 5 secs

Usually, when I go to football matches / sporting events and stuff like that, I might not understand a thing about what's happening but I just go there to soak up the atmosphere and learn a bit or two whilst having fun.
I think if they brought the Grand Prix back to Singapore, I'll be like that too - go 'cuz I like to oogle at fast cars and hear the 'ooooooohzzzzzzzz' sound as they zip by, but don't know a thing about the car models, who's driving, etc etc.

No big surprise. Renault was always known to be weaker than McLaren on high-speed circuits like Silverstone - in fact, Alonso's pole position was a surprise to everyone, Alonso included. Not that it matters - with more than half the season gone, Alonso still leads Raikonnen by a healthy 26 points for the WDC. Juan-Lap Wonder is not a threat to the championship - his win just kept Alonso from extending his lead by another 2 points.
From performances over the last two years, Alonso is easily the more deserving of the championship. While Raikonnen seems only able to lead from the front, Alonso guns it all the time to make sure he's in a position to take advantage of anything that happens ahead of him.
As an engine supplier, Renault have won championships, but the WCC has always eluded Renault as a team. Hopefully they'll ratain their 15-point lead over McLaren and get their first WCC too. I've been a McLaren fan since 1988, but the way they've been screwing up lately (somebody should explain to Ron Dennis that it's two races per engine, not two engines per race), it'll be a travesty if they win.
In any case, at least I get to see someone knock Michael Scummaker off his perch before he retires.

As for Singapore hosting a round of the F1 World Championship, that's very unlikely now. But if the GPWC ( a rival series which Mercedes Benz, Honda, Toyota, BMW, Renault and Minardi plan to set up in 2008 ) becomes reality, we can't afford to miss the boat again the way the A1 series slipped from our grasp.
