It's okay. The experience will be valuable already.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Thanks for your well-wishes, littlestream I surprised myself by being unusually calm for the interview this morning. I'd met one of the interviewers before, and she was v. friendly & kept nodding at whatever I said, so I suppose I felt a bit more relaxed and talked a bit more than I usually did :p
But, in the end, I don't think the job will be given to me, as I don't have the experience required. I could tell that they wanted someone else by the hints they dropped at the end of the interview, like "All the best", and "This is a v. senior position blahblah". Oh well, better luck next time!
heyyyy littlestream Glad to hear u visited the library & was pleasantly surprised by what u saw I can't wait to visit my local council's new library opening in Nov too.. they'll be using a kind of technology (RFID) which NLB also uses (first in the world to use this) to track where an item is located in the library, whether it be in shelf a, b, or even on a table! V. impressiveOriginally posted by littlestream:It's okay. The experience will be valuable already.
Que sera sera, right?
On a different note, I was at the library last night and boy, was I impressed!!! You can tell what a mountain tortoise I am. Well, I've not been to one for a long time coming.
I am not exactly surprised by the ethnic collections but to see a karaoke disc of Hokkien songs, like "must piah then can win" or "siong sim jiu diam" (heartbroken hotel)........I am like !
Anyways, hubby and I will be visiting this place more often. Not the library but the other facilities (we will be signing up for badminton this coming fall). The library is in a newly constructed community centre and it felt like a resort. We were treated to a town level ice-hockey match. Oh, what a night, we had.
I thought normally the medical check-up comes after you get the job, so it looks like they are likely to offer the job to you. Otherwise, why waste so much of your time? Is it the "v senior" position that you mentioned? Good for you!Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:The interviewer called me up recently, and asked me to go for a pre-employment medical!! She said there's no certaintly of anything yet, but I think they are well & truly considering me for the post! The medical's tomorrow afternoon, and based on the results + my reference checks, they may or may not send me a job offer shortly

Err even if they will, I'm not willing to stay Cos the rewards (not monetary) are far better in the new job! I get to learn new things, interact with more people, manage diff. branches, catalogue (something I've always wanted to do since my 20s! )Originally posted by InnoHippo:will they counter-offer you and get you to stay?
