What would you do?

For discussion's sake: My hubby and I were going out, walking towards the bus-stop when a very thin woman approached us, asking for help. According to her, she lives in AMK, and was supposed to meet her friend there (at Bishan) to take money from her friend so that she can buy her asthma inhaler refill (or something like that, she was holder the inhaler thingy). But her friend didn't turn up, so she wants us to give her $10 to buy the inhaler. I asked her where her clinic is, thinking that her clinic is nearby, so that we can all go to the clinic and buy the thing for her, and I can pay $10 to the clinic directly. But she claimed that she visits a Dr Lim in Toa Payoh, and when I asked her which block at TP, she got angry and said in Mandarin: "you want to help, you help lah!" and walked away, before we could speak further.
I wonder: should I have given her the benefit of the doubt and just spare her $10? Was it wrong for me to ask her those couple of questions, just to be safe she's not pulling a fast one? She does look like she's not well, and could not stand upright properly. What if she was indeed sick and needed help urgently?
It's kind of like those old folks or visually-handicapped folks going around selling tissue paper. I sometimes find it difficult to refuse them, knowing that it's difficult for folks like them to find paid employment to survive. After all, $1 is nothing much to many of us, but the thing is there are so many of them, that I meet at least one of them selling tissue everyday!

unless you are very sure she is out to con you, otherwise help her if you can afford.

you don't need to go to a specific clinic for inhalers.
i would report them to the police. -
to add, inhalers don't cost just 10 dollars.
who'ever try to ask that from me, i'll fucking tear them a new one.

I think you did the right thing, and betting odds are that she was trying to pull a fast one and got irritated when she realised she wasn't going to get cash. Over here in Melbourne, I've run into a lot of winos who ask for money for food, but all of them lose interest when I say, "I won't give you cash, but I'll buy you a meal".

When 1 is desperately in need of favours, they would b humble & sincere enuf to plead for any & would b most grateful to any rendered. Such lousy attitude shows that she wasn't asking but expecting & demanding for help. If she's for real & really looked unwell, she shld b contented for any kind of help offered. I think what you did is perfectly ok.
$10 maybe peanuts to some but if it does not serve the right purpose then it's a total waste.
$10 can get you:
to feed 4 hungry person with $2.50 chicken rice
to buy 10 $1 bread talk bread
