did u print out the last page like they ask u to do after u filed online? if u did den show it to them. if u did'nt or u lost it den it will be tat much more difficult to reason with them.Originally posted by the Bear:never..

what i know is that their system was not up to the sheer volume of transactions..
they IT'ed it because it was "hi-tech" and for no other reason.. the senior management probably was sold by a song and dance about it and went without asking the people who will do the work...
typical...
now... i will go there and have it out with them tomorrow.. they will NOT pin something on me because their server went dead...
i will not just roll over and die for them.. that is how they will eat you alive...
the anger will become a slow cold burn by tomorrow... and that's when i get scary... -

the staff KNEW this was going to happen.. they didn't even ask questions!
there were a lot of people there with the same problem.. filed but got hit with a letter of "composition fine" anyway...
the staff actually acknowledged that their server is useless... i gave them a slow quiet burn type about their IT and their system, that if it is not able to cope, to not even think about rolling it out..
seems that the staff there is resigned to facing angry members of the public who have filed, yet been served these letters...
anyway, maybe next year, i'll file at 5am (as i did this year, in order to actually get logged on) and print it out when i am at work.. and print out about 10 copies, and then fax them to IRAS anyway... so that they have no excuse for doing this again...
lots of people there were muttering "waste my time"
moral of the story for those who will go up the corporate ladder: NEVER roll out IT things if they do not lessen the workload and don't even think about implementing it before it is ready... mostly, ask the people who will use it for their imputs and conduct UAT with them.. -

actually, even if you give them a system which is good, they will turn it into a mess...
i actually was part of a team which UAT'ed the heck out of a system.. as in, we actually took close to 3 months for the initial system, and 2 for the upgrade.. and there were still little bugs which were fixed..
when it was handed over, the senior management who didn't know how it was built, added a LOT of stuff on it.. now it's slow as all heck...
oh well... there will be another system soon.. i was made to go to the "training" and "UAT" (how can you UAT a system in 1/2 day??!!) and they could not answer what i called the "acid test" question: is this going to make things easier or is this just going to add to my workload?
from their hesitation and their inability to answer the question, it was clear they never asked this question from the start... and suddenly realised they were putting a system which will add to the workload..
then came the big one: i asked if they had a clue what we were going to use the system for, and the enormity of our workload, they were stunned.. i dragged them to the office where we had to work with the system, they were almost shocked speechless at the things we had to do each shift.. and were pretty quiet after that

pity the customer service staffs there.
they have to bear the brunt for something that is totally not of their making. -
Today, I learnt a new term... 'UAT'.
'UAT' stands for 'User Acceptance Testing'.
"UAT is typically the final phase in a software development process in which the software is given to the intended audience to be tested for functionality. UAT is either done by making the software available for a free trial, typically over the Internet, or by using an in-house testing panel comprised of users who would be using the product in real-world applications. UAT is done in order to get feedback from users to make any final adjustments to the programming before releasing the product to the general public.

Actually, for the past few years, I've filed my taxes online. I jumped on the bandwagon and tried e-filing the very first year they launched it. So far, *knocks on wood*, I haven't had any problems with them.
Hopefully, this year is no exception! -
I didnÂ’t have any problem using the IRAS online filing. In fact I was one of those lucky few that received $50 for using online filing last year. Actually you could just tell IRAS that you have already send the IRAS form by mail and that the mail must has got lost during posting. that was the excused I i used the last time, and like you said, those girls OTC didnt make it difficult for me.
The moral of the story here is, do your IRAS online filing early and save everybody the inconvience. -
