Schools nowadays scared students fake illness, cannot accept parents' letter.Originally posted by Rhonda:... sometimes doesn't make sense!
For example, in my workplace, our supervisor makes it very very clear that if you take more than 7 MC's in six months, we'll have our alternate 5-day week privilege revoked for the next six months! Also, the number of days of medical leave we take are taken into account in our performance appraisals and other stuff.
So, what's been happening is, we have ONE colleague who's very ill, fever and a bad case of the sniffles. He doesn't want to take an MC because we're already shorthanded and he's afraid of displeasing his boss. So, fine, two days later, another TWO colleagues fall ill with the same symptoms, so that makes it THREE of us in total. Five days later, the three are STILL sick, worse, now, there are at least six of us who are now down with flu or pre-flu!!
Isn't it ridiculous??!! If someone falls ill, PLEASE let them take their medical leave, stay home and recuperate!!! They seem to prefer that we don't take MC at all, then return to work, make mistakes, give substandard work, and spread the illness around!!
Where's the logic?? All this productivity talk is sickening, literally!! How productive can a sick person be at work?
If they're scared that we are pretending to be ill and 'faking' illness, then, are they calling into question the qualifications of the GP's who issue the MC's? And by that, are they indirectly questioning the efficacy of NUS' Medical Faculty, if that's where the GP's graduated from?
Well, parents pay SUBSIDISED school fees. Anyway, getting an MC is so easy, just pay $4 for consultation and 70cents for the panadol. So cheap. You want more days you just ask the doctor for it lor. During O lvl year, I always take MC for 2 days, stay at hopme play games and study, becos got nothing new to learn in school liao. My medical expense last year was $58. All paid for by my insurance!Originally posted by The man who was death:Schools nowadays scared students fake illness, cannot accept parents' letter.
This drives me wild, even if students fake illness, their parents is not worried that their child is skipping school, why the school worry? Also parents pay school fees cannot have the right to decide if they want their child to go or not go to school meh?
its unhealthy.Originally posted by kops21:me not bother with MC...havent need one since 10yrs+ ago
alternate 5-day week privilege...is a PRIVILEGE.....it is not against the law to revoke privilege....just that the after taste is bitter

Exactly lah! nothing to learn liao still dun want to let us go. So what if parents pay susidised fees, they still pay what and do we deserved to get treated worse than a prisoner? Students in US probably get more off days than us even though they have compulsory attendance cos during winter months, they probably dun have to go to school every time it snows too much. And they dun go back to school during holidays cos their holidays are after the school year ends, not like our june holidays.Originally posted by shade343:Well, parents pay SUBSIDISED school fees. Why u so stupid? still get mc? I just didn't go to school for the whole week before the school ends and before that i even missed some prelim papers. They can't do anything to u what, already leaving school liao.
Alternate 5 day week but the minimum working hrs is still like what? 44hrs? it makes no difference at all. The govt should cut down on the minimum working hours
