why do we need our PM to deliver his speech in 3 different languages? If you think it is important to reach out to all races, then it shouldnt just be 3, we should also include tamil language for the indians.Originally posted by Rhonda:I wished that the Prime Minister had given the speech in three languages too. I was kinda stunned that he didn't and then kept wondering why.
I'll only listen to the English version, and then tune-out. But speaking in Mandarin and Malay appeals to many others who might be more comfortable in those languages and besides, it has become a 'tradition' to have the speech in three languages for decades already.
Besides, with professional translators for him, how difficult could it have been?
I'm still wondering why it was only in English... does anyone know why?
