Financially lost would be my main inhibiting factors .... I could alway take on some menial jobs to get by such as ' Guards, Prodcution Operator, etc or even social work... one poly fren of mine did community works for 2 yrs after he returned from UK degree ... as he could not find a job...Originally posted by dragg:unemployment isnt just about money. the boredom and restlessness can kill too.
Another ex colleague of mine after completing his degree here could not get any jobs for 2 yrs still jobless now... he is working as Guards , storeman to survive... it not some much about pride ... he was an Officer during his NS and now reduced to a Security Guard ... however I do admire his courage and positive spirit he believe its just a matter of time he will get on the track again he is already 32 this year..
Ironically they would have been better off if they continue workign with their diploma and not gone the upgrade degree road.. -

See, if a lady's attached or married, there'll be men who'll find her instantly desirable because of the very fact that she's not available, so therefore, that makes her a 'catch', a good prey for their 'hunt'!
Of course, the same goes for some ladies towards married or attached men.
So, does the same principle work for employers as well? That is a candidate is still employed, it somehow makes that candidate appear a tad more 'desirable'? I know it sounds ridiculous but then again, such illogical mechanisms might just be at work subconsciously.

Hi everyone, I am new here,
I hav been on contract for almost 3 yrs before converted to permanent staff. really felt terrible but have no choice cos the economy was so bad then. Salary was very little, no prospect, work hard to have your contract renewed etc etc.
When I knew that my contract position is to be outsource, I hav no choice but get ready for being jobless soon. My ex broke up with me during tat period and I was devastated. so hopeless and demoralised.
I nvr gave up hope cos I have no alternate route but to keep searching for any new job vacancy anywhere in SG. I am lucky cos some of the managers from my company supported me for perm position and before I was converted to perm, I received a confirmation from another company but i decided to stay on with my current co.
During that period, I was very active in attd interviews, rushing for interview after work, taking leave for another and rushing for classes for my final semester in a local poly.
Just feel that as long as you keep pushing yourself and by keeping yourself occupied be it contract, temp or even on part time basis, all such experiences acumulate and will,in my opinion add certain value in you.
Just tell yourself, dun ever giv up. -

You know? It is so good you wrote because coming out of somebody, in a sort of similar situation carry more weight.

Start own biz is difficult much tougher than working 4 pple... I agree... but the thing is about doing your sum , research etc etc before plunging in ...take a calculated risk... this army fren of mine start a tution centre in CCK said now his income is better than he was a corporate trainer and he is happier ba... being his own boss.. -
too bad i am not a grad. not qualified to even give tuitions.
