Does it dilute phlegm?Originally posted by Rhonda:Actually, what really works for me when I experience the kind of sore throat that leads to flu, is Trachisan. It's available from Guardian Pharmacy but you'll have to walk up to their Pharmacist-on-duty to ask for it.
It has Chlorhexidine in it, a powerful antiseptic. The day after you start taking it, your throat will feel worse than it was, but then, after that, you recover very fast.
I swear by that stuff! (Side effect could be diarrhoea, because it's really THAT powerful!)
hey.. if that's the case, shouldnt mozzies be very much attracted to our nostrils? but no, chances are they tend to congregate around our ears (and irritate the hell out of us), or bite on your small back, your butt, basically areas where you have the most difficulty reaching to scratch!Originally posted by laurence82:Very simply, mossies are attracted by the CO2 produced by our body.
Solution, stop breathing!

CO2 only comes out from nostril?Originally posted by wuming78:hey.. if that's the case, shouldnt mozzies be very much attracted to our nostrils? but no, chances are they tend to congregate around our ears (and irritate the hell out of us), or bite on your small back, your butt, basically areas where you have the most difficulty reaching to scratch!

Nope, it doesn't. It is an antiseptic. Antiseptics kill bacteria and germs.Originally posted by laurence82:Does it dilute phlegm?
My fren who went to doctor for serious sore throat which got lots of phlegm, said the doc gave him sum pills which are supposed to dilute the phlegm and make one cough it out easier....
something like fishermans' frenOriginally posted by thhong22:wat is tussils lozenges?
The mozzies have this 'sensor' that senses CO2 output. That helps them to pinpoint the location of a human being. It doesn't mean that they'll congregate around the nostrils!Originally posted by wuming78:hey.. if that's the case, shouldnt mozzies be very much attracted to our nostrils? but no, chances are they tend to congregate around our ears (and irritate the hell out of us), or bite on your small back, your butt, basically areas where you have the most difficulty reaching to scratch!
in fact yes, but the amount is super minute, but mabbe good enuff for mossies....Originally posted by wuming78:we dont breathe through our skin do we?
yeah.. tt's what i guessed too, cos i do remember reading somewhere that they are attracted to our bodily "smells", the mix of co2, and what nots. so somewhere we must be producing these through our skins.Originally posted by laurence82:in fact yes, but the amount is super minute, but mabbe good enuff for mossies....
Not true de. Last yr when I went for my last, LAST ICT, we deploy at the highest point in SafTi. Burn more than 10 packs of coil together. you can see the smokes at least 1km away.......keekeekee.Originally posted by Gackt247:Dun use mosquito coils.. it's very harmful.. 1 coil has the amt of tar equivalent to more den 100 cigarretes
Helps with the hunger pangs, too! I try to drink at least 2L per day.Originally posted by Rhonda:... do you experience frequent headaches due to the weather?
If so, you might be dehydrated!
Each of us needs to drink at least 1 L of water a day and if you're an active person, you'll need about two times that, or more, depending on your level and duration of activity.
If you're going under the hot sun, make sure you drink lots of water to keep yourself adequately hydrated as you're going to lose a fair bit of water through perspiration.
Like what one doc taught us in Nursing School, 'Headache? Drink water first, and see if it subsides - you could just be dehydrated!'
Take heed, everyone! Good health to all!
