What are the things to note before i sign on the contract? Can I ask them to put down in writing the terms which were communicated between myself and the company's interviewer? Too much to ask for?

Of course, the 'textbook answer' would be to make sure the terms that were promised to you are all typed out in your Letter of Employment / Contract. However, in the local context, there are locals who might frown upon this and take this as an 'insult' or interpret it to mean that you distrust them.
I guess protecting self-interest is important enough to take this precautionary step though. I would voice my concerns to the employment agency and see what deal can be struck re. this.

i figure since my pay should be coming thru the agency, i would not want to be short-changed. -

- Entitlements (leave, sick leave etc)
- Amt of time you need to give your employer in case you need to leave the job
- Any payment for OT?
- Lastly, if it's a contract for a period of time, I'll make sure that start/end dates are clearly stated in the letter of offer.

I once held a contract job obtained thru' an agency, but I was paid directly by the company, which is a good thing. Being a French co, the staff benefits were good and which were also extended to me. Besides free medical, I was able to claim partially, insurance for an injury which arose from a mtn-biking accident, and I also received pro-rated bonus when I left. If you are being paid by the agency, you may wanna check up on things like medical coverage and work insurance converage. -
my friend recently signed a one year contract thru agency. she is now working for a local electrical company.
she is n level only, paid around 1500 but no overtime pay.
after only a few days she wanted to quit.
reason; ot until 9pm everyday.
she is now in a fix because of the agency and the contract.
