I was there for 2 weeks!! But then it was an enjoyable trip, especially the comedy festival...Originally posted by the Bear:you spent a week there...
i spent 3 years there...
BIG difference
and surfer's paradise is one of the ultimate tourist traps... when i went there, the locals tried to flog stuff to me by trying to speak to me in Japanese
'maaate.. do i look japanese??' kinda kills it and they laugh their heads off
Thks beary,Originally posted by the Bear:lots of places but outta town.. you can sign up at the tourist booths in the city...
viet noodles, just go to Mekong at Swanston Walk...
somewhere around the corner at Chinatown, is Souvlaki Bar, one of the better souvlaki places...
then you can go to Lygon Street, where the Italian restaurants are
i would recommend a tour.Originally posted by SpeedStar:Thks beary,

Hey gendanken,Originally posted by Gedanken:Whoops, just logged on.
I just had a quick glance through this thread, and I gather you're after parks, wildlife and scenery. In Melbourne, apart from the Great Ocean Road, you've also got the Grampians (nice hilly area for a day's trekking about) and Marysville/Healesville for forests and wildlife reserves.
Yo SL,Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:hehe... yea heed the forumites' advice who told you not to come to Sydney.. it's too much like Singapore! Unless you wanna go to the Blue Mountains or Snowy Mountains to ski.
Personally, I like touring country areas to cities cos it's something different from living in Singapore. I love Nannup in Western Australia, a small town in the Blackwood Valley. Things to see include tulip festival (only in spring time), Australia's native karri trees, beautiful country scenery & sunsets, you can go bushwalking, and can also experience living in a log cabin. Heavenly! I wanna go back there again someday

Hmmm......interesting.Originally posted by Gackt247:I've been to Gold Coast, Sydney n Melboure. I like Melbourne best coz the trip to the Great Ocean Road was really really memorable. The view from the helicoptor was simply stunning.
But hey, the penguins at Phillips Island r so tiny n cute.Originally posted by Lingos:All of you guys are wrong...
Lingos is the biggest attraction in Melbourne.
AHHAHAHA No I am serious.
Righto... for nature and stuff, you gotta go to Great Ocean rd, Grampians and hike your life away.
I think i might give Phillip Island a miss, it's just the flipping penguins, go to the zoo instead!
Shopping: Chapel Street, give the street malls a visit, say Bridge Road, Chapel Street. Basically all around the city.
I personally don't like Lygon street, I find my local woodfire pizza is better. Look who else would put cauliflower, brocolli and heaps of cheese on a woodfire vegetarian pizza for $8? And i don't have to fight for parking with everyone on Lygon street. I prefer Brunswick Street or Smith Street as it has more personality. I think Lygon is like urgh...
Prahran is good, Greville street has some cute stores and also my favourite Candy bar.. where else can you smoke indoors these days?? I'm there every Thursday.. actually would be Wednesday from now on.
