or just snowskin with plain filling.. i like it when they make the skin silky and smooth and yet chewable and satisfying..
unfortunately they are not too cheap

My fave types of mooncakes are the snow skin ones, esp. durian, or green tea! yum yum!
if it's the plain ones, then the more egg yolks inside, the better!

i org'd a mooncake making contest in uni before for some mid-autumn festival celebration. one of my sub-committee members has a relative working in mandarin hotel and he managed to get the snow skin dough and fillings from them. heard he got the mixed flour for the snow skin and kneaded into dough himself! then the res is easy. all the contestants had to do was use the dough and filling, make into a ball, put into the moulds and tap it out.
the results were really good(-tasting)!

Is there a brand of mooncake that is not so sweet and not too oily? This rules out the snow skins which are too sweet for my liking. Just plain lotus paste or green tea lotus paste will do.

anyone heard of this brand ? ..... is it some "branded" stuff ? .... the box's exquisite .....

I prefer the green bean wan, call 'Pearly Jade with Omochi".. if what she bought has yolk, then it's golden jade light with yolk. The white stuff u referring to, if it's pealy jade, it's mochi and green baen in the middle. If it's golden jade light then it's white bean paste.
by the way, it's not green tea, it's panda lotus.
