4 bedroom - yes, if you don't mind, having 1 master bedroom + 3 very small rooms (smaller than normal HDB bedroom).
5 bedrooms - haven't come across.

Five-room HDB flats would have four bedrooms.
As for five bedrooms, aren't those called 'Executive Flats'? Not sure.
I do know that if your parents are staying with you, you can actually apply for one of those 'Jumbo Flats' in Woodlands where it's like two flats with a door linking them. I've never been to one, but I've heard that they're HUGE! -

I think the modern-day couple might require large flats because if each wants a room for their own 'private space', that'll mean that for just the couple alone, they'll need one shared bedroom, and one room each for their 'private study'... that already makes it a 4-room flat!
Then, what about the kids?
Maybe, one shared bedroom, one shared study, the rest of the rooms depends on how many kids they intend to have. -

i had this very crazy idea yesterday. I told nellie, maybe when his bro gets ROM, we could apply for a flat or sth together, and state specifically we want them to be side by side. and we fulfill 2 out of the 3 criterias for the flat priority stuff
so it doesn matter who their parents choose to stay with since we're just next doors
and with more bedrooms, we'd be able to give our kids their own room if they happened to be a boy n a ger -
I've seen a flat in Tiong Bahru area that was 2 units combined in one. The owner originally had the corner flat, he bought over his neighbour's, and knocked down the connecting wall.

Oh...good arrangement! Then one household can do the cooking for all family members at any one time. You all must be very close to want to stay next to each other. I find it's also ok to stay within the same block or next block, even if not next to each other. Offers the couple some privacy at times when you need quiet.
So exciting to plan for a new home. -

I've even seen one when after combining, they walled up the door to the corner unit.

You've seen and heard of the Duxton that's currently under construction, right? Their sky gardens have been heavily touted.
Don't know about you but it scares the hell outta me to know that I'll be living in such a densely populated apartment block!

it would be nice to be able to stay together but then... some times people become free-loaders.
my bf's brother and wife stay near their mom so that they can come by and eat dinner. So their mom sponsor their dinner, take care of their babies, pay for everything the kids use. The brother and the sister in law treat the place like hawker center. After eating, they leave everything around for the next person to clean up after them. I quit visiting his place cause its very dirty and I've ended up cleaning up after everyone for a couple of times until one of his aunts actually called me a maid. What's more, they also complained about the food I cook and the way I do it.
How unkind when their own family and sister-in-law or daughter sit around to be waited on. -

It is very frightening to think that after a day's of work, its going to be part two of the day ... the sister in law had refused to do anything or learn any cooking and yet complain she is putting on weight ... -
