OK, elindra thinks the food pics should come under this thread so here are the pics of two lunchbox meals I brought to work the first two times I cooked in my new kitchen!
Sorry, these pics were already posted in another one of my threads before I realised they belonged in this thread instead.
My first lunchbox! Rice with Chai Bor Nng, and Stir-Fried Broccolini with Shiitake Mushrooms and Carrots! I love Broccolini, a marriage between the Kai Lan and Broccoli!
And the 2nd lunchbox - my specialty, Spicy Prawns! I also had Garlic Cloves with the 'flower' bit left intact on the stalk, stir-fried with fried tofu, anchovies, and oyster mushrooms!
I was kinda happy that I could get the ingredients to cook both meals in the Asian Grocery shops in Victoria Street! Happiness!! -
And one fine day, I decided to cook a few dishes all at once!
Here, we have Tender Pork Slices with Preserved Soy Beans!
And then Fried Sambal Okra!
This dish is Stir-Fried Broccoli with Scallops!
(The seafood here's not expensive - all the scallops here for less than A$4-something!)
Loofa Melon with Prawns and Egg
Stir-Fried Long Beans with Fried Tofu, Fish Cake and Preserved Soya Beans
Char Siew Pork
Can't quite remember if that was all or were there more.
Anyways, I brought lunchboxes to work for the next few days after this cooking frenzy! He he! -

Prawns with Dark Sauce
Steamed Whiting Fillet in Honey Soy Garlic sauce and Orange Peel
Oyster Sauce Broccolini and Fishballs
(I was thrilled to bits back then that fishballs could be found here! ) -
This is the first 'proper' pasta dish I've cooked in more than a decade! No kidding!
The 'first' ones I've ever cooked were 'cheat' ones where I just poured a can of baked beans over some sausages and pasta when I was a latchkey kid!
This is a 'real' pasta dish complete with the herbs - Basil, Parsley and Oregano!
Bow-Tie Pasta with Spicy Sausage Balls and Tri-Coloured Chilli Pepper!

And here, a meal of convenience - Flat Egg Noodles with Char Siew and Celery... cooked in a spur of the moment thing with whatever I could dig out of the fridge!

And here's one of my all-time faves - Korean Beef Bulogolgi!
Better than the one at Seoul Garden!
By this time, my colleagues have been envious of my lunchboxes so I cooked an extra portion of Korean Beef Bulgolgi for one of my colleagues and she liked it. There are quite a few PRC's, Singaporeans and Filipinos in my workplace who used to work in Singapore hospitals and they all love Asian food. One of them told me to sell my food at the hospital cafeteria.
I'm on Cloud 9! -

that's oh-so beautiful -
Well, I'm not a fan of blue cheese on it's own but it does add this 'ooomph' to certain dishes and baked pasta taste really good with some blue cheese.
Don't overdo it but adding a little adds alot to the flavor.
Actually I think another good way to eat blue cheese is to wrap it up in lettuce and eat it. It helps cut out the pungent smell and flavor which alot of people cannot take -
*drools at Rhonda's dishes. well, except for the brocoli, which is evil*

Actually restaurant standard is to arrange the broccoli and scallops nicely and then pour the gravy over so it looks prettier, I think! But I'm too lazy to do that plus, pointless because I don't need to pian gina's to eat their nutritious vegetables! -
