sayang him and tell him that he has arrived ......Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:I am asking because I have a ... ahem.. mild disagreement with the hubby because of this...
I can't be bothered to boil them first IF what I need are like.. cut up cubes for curry/soup cos I can peel them in like 15 seconds flat or something
but according to hubby (he comes from a family that used to be very poor) and another very sensible friend, they say waste a lot of potato if use peeler and after boil very very easy to peel.
whereupon I said the amount of potato I waste when using the peeler is like.. maybe amount to 3 cents...or wadever...
then.. I kenna the 3 cents also money ma.. war that time how?
So.. err.. now everytime he is at home, I boil and peel. But if he not at home when I cook, I just peel and diam diam. He probably knows I dont bother boiling but he also diam diam.
But feels a bit like commiting adultery with a potato each time I secretly use the peeler, lah.
i would be doing both way..Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:Raw with knife or peeler
or boil then peel the skin off?

think that was what made the titanic sink
bags and bags of potato starch/flour in its hold which expanded
and probably became gooey and heavy...
when the water came in and started absorbing a lot of water
err issit? or am i repeating some urban legend

A Chinese cookbook I have says that the sprouted 'eyes' of the potato is toxic, so don't even eat the potato which has even minimally sprouted 'eyes'. This cookbook is about eating for health, balancing heaty vs cooling vegetables that sort.Originally posted by the Bear:somewhere, i read that boiling the potato with the skin may actually transfer some of the toxins to the potato itself..
maybe...
i have read too much crap in my lifetime
