I have always known I want to move out of here someday. It's nice here too, but no place for children to grow up in. We are deprived here, and some people are so eager to embrace American culture. Hello, American culture isn't quite the best the emulate.
Anyways, I think I may have found out where I hope to immigrate to (don't know if it's possible to). I will need to find out more. I want a place where I get to experience four distinch seasons, and enjoy winter sports, good laws for workers' rights, uncrowded dinners... I want all of that.
Ok, GCT would have labelled me a quitter, but I don't care. -

I believe that we all have different needs and dreams, and to label Singaporeans who migrate as 'losers' is really sad.
In fact, those who persevere through the migration process and actually make it happen, definitely are NOT losers! It takes a winning attitude to 'make it' in a strange country where you're mostly viewed as a '2nd class' citizen.

i forgot to add, i think that the best is to not emulate any culture at all, however, take note of the goodness of each culture and then form a hybrid of your own culture. you dont need to influence the whole society, it is merely for your own self, and those who want to adapt to it.

and this is my home... i feel moving away isn't a solution for we will find new problems elsewhere which leaves us back at the start again...
however, if one day, i do find Mrs Bear, and circumstance make us have to go, i'd do so without a moment's hesitation for then, my place would be beside her -

No, the place I wanna move to is in Northern Europe, but I don't know if that's possible. It's a country where people are polite, and amazingly humble. A place with 4 distinct seasons.

Why do you see NZ in my future?
I don't think NZ has very distinct 4 seasons... the place where I am talking about has periods in summer when the night is light..
And I don't want to be un a country where they are very politically incorrect, such as UK, US and Australia.. though I did enjoy myself in Uk.. -

Yup i know the southern hemisphere is the opposite in times of the seasons.
I think it is summer/fall in Canada now, and the opposite in NZ. But I dont know, because I've heard from someone in Finland that the summers are coming later every year there. -

so let me get this straight..u want to move to a place where you dont want to speak english but you cant speak the local language. The locals there however can speak english according to you. So you will probably end up conversing with them mostly in english...which defeats the purpose of you moving to a place where you do not want to speak english. Is that right?

Iran aint bad, been there quite a bit, but just missing some stuff that america has. And it has very distinctive 4 seasons and very diverse wildlife and areas. And I agree right now American culture isn't the best and I'm worried too for how to raise children here in the USA.

Iran? I met two Iranians when I was traveling, one was ok, the other is so America lovin' and boring. Sheesh. He kept asking me about Singapore and when I just said like two words, he'd cut in with his tales of Iran and MLM and what not. I'm not sure which type you met, but so far I've been able to see that there are 3 types of Iranians, first there is the type who is more for good change and social construction, second there are the older Shaw supporters (the ones the fled during the revolution cuz they didn't want their money to go away), and third there are just the annoying stupid types (all countries have them, but in Iran they are easy to pick outOriginally posted by foxwalk:Iran? Many things that people don't know about the country, since most people just think it's one big desert. What northern euro country did you have in mind?
