Do you know that Australia and other Asian countries have even sent contingents of healthcare professionals to see if they can emulate our public healthcare system?
You have NO IDEA how good our public healthcare system is. Sure, it can be much better, but compared to what other countries are offering, including developed countries, we are better in several areas.
Do you know that we have had patients from developed countries like the UK, France, and the US, telling us that our healthcare here is superb, compared to what they have back home?
You don't even SEE, deathy. So quit asking for more subsidies, unless you want to start working now and start paying hefty taxes!

Just sit around at any M1 or SingTel shop... you're sure to see the irate customer making his / her unreasonable demands at some poor service staff.
Or, the next time you patronise a restaurant, look around at how the other patrons treat the service staff.
When you go on vacation, oh man, the ugly Singaporean really rears its head. They act all hoity-toity and are a general nuisance. I'm sure quite a large number of customer service personnel in our neighbouring countries think badly of the 'typical' Singaporean client. So pai seh! 
So what if we have a steady, thriving economy? So what if we're literate and highly educated? Look at the way we're behaving... so much like boors! -

Be thankful for what you've been given. Subsidies aren't 'compulsory'... they're kinda like goodwill grants to help us out.
This mentality of demanding more and more handouts from the govt is a tad disturbing, esp coming from youngsters who haven't yet contributed to the economy yet.

let me give it to you in terms which are brutal...
i'm not in the service industry...
we receive a whole lot of complaints about lousy service anyway...
about 70% of it is total and utter fabrication..
then the rest are looked into and only about 1 or 2 have some kind of substance in them...
mostly, those are because the "customer" is rude, unreasonable and unruly, causing my staff to have to be firm until we have to be outright rude to them before they would budge...
i have had to threaten some people with arrest before they would go.. and that is the extent of the "complaints"
most of it is BS...

Do you know that in the US, if your insurance cover is not recognised / accepted by the hospital, even if it's an emergency, they will refuse to allow the ambulance staff to let you off their vehicle?
There are people who have DIED in the ambulances because they couldn't get admitted to the nearest hospital because their insurance cover isn't accepted by that hospital.
Worse, if the person's poor with no insurance, or a beggar. They won't even get time of day!
I believe it's an HMO system? Maybe, if MG's around, he can rectify this.
Here, we take in ALL patients who are sent in to us by ambulance. Yes, ALL. Foreigners included. Our policy is, treat and save lives first, talk about the money later.
So, deathy, our "not-so-highly subsidised" healthcare system will make sure that you and I will not die in the streets even if we do not have a single cent in our pockets.
And even so, there are folks who abuse the system. I've heard patients boasting to fellow patients that they can refuse to pay their bills even if they can afford it, and the govt will have to step in.
That's a total abuse of the system!!!

holidays are near, go get a part-time job earning some pocket money flipping burgers or packing crates...
learn what it is like earning less than minimum wage, while being badgered by rude people

some family drove up in a big-ass merc and grabbed every book their grubby paws could get their hands on, strongarmed their way through the children who went, and took off probably cackling in deranged maniacal laughter...
there will be people like those...
and these are the people who make the most noise when they are treated like normal people...
i have told the bosses who have been horrified to hear of my philosophy (probably because they are butt-kissing bootlickers) of treating everyone the same, without fear, without favour... -

This thing about treating everyone the same and without fear nor favour is something we need to start implement on a massive scale!
I remember in Psychology class, a lecturer was telling us about positive reinforcement - that if a customer yells and complains and he / she IMMEDIATELY gets tended to, then, they'll learn :
Want / Need Service Fast? ==> Kick up a big big fuss and complain loudly!! ==> IMMEDIATE service!
And, all the time, we're giving these folks positive reinforcements!
I love it in the US and Europe, where their Customer Service personnel are assertive. If you overstep the boundaries and treat them with disrespect, BOY, oh boy, do they put you back in your rightful place!! -

Deathy, the solution is to stick your tortoise head out, and see what the world around you is like. It doesn't work if you keep your head in... along with the ugly, you also don't get to enjoy the beauty!
You need to look within yourself and start to address certain issues. You cannot live like that, forever avoiding people!
