Get the hell outta here if you're not going to contribute anything!Originally posted by Gazelle:I cant believe that after 2 months of discussion there is still no action...
If this is an emergency, I think all those who need help will be dead by now..
We need actual book donations more than suggestions because quite a few of us in here are avid book readers and we prowl the bookstores so we're kinda in-the-know already.Originally posted by shinta:can i offer suggestions instead?

The first book collection time will be during Club 30's 1st Anniversary Celebration feast at Suntec! Those who are donating new / used books, please turn up for the celebration so we can celebrate by eating together, and you may hand over the books to me.
The 2nd book collection time and place will be announced later.
If you're buying books, now is a good time to go to the Bookfair at Bras Basah Complex. Lots of books on discount.Originally posted by Rhonda:Hmm... would it give you guys more motivation if we were to hold a shopping for books event? Like, we pick one day, go to the major bookstores like Popular, Times and Kinokuniya, and each pick out a book / books that we want to purchase for the kids?
Wow... I'm sure many of the kids there would enjoy that thoroughly! Thanks!Originally posted by av98m:Hmm...turns out my suitable for children books are either in bad condition or have too many old food stains on them
Will contribute a new set of Chronicles of Narnia

Donate a book and imagine a happy kid curling up in a cozy corner, reading.
A few months back, I checked with the staff at the home and they said that the children there already have events planned for the festive season. If we intend to plan something for the kids, like sponsor an outing or visit them and hold a party for them, they'd rather we organise it for 2006.Originally posted by diggo:Still have this at the back of my mind...
Thread seems to have died down...Wat's the plan for Christmas for the kids?
Wow... thanks for sharing!!Originally posted by Peppermint:First I did not finish reading the thread but I just want to share my experience with this home...
we organised a christmas party for these children...and got them to write their wishes on 'stars' which we made and hung on our christmas tree to. our employees would then try to fufil the wishes these children had...
some of their wishes really 'broke' my heart...they ask for simple things like hairband...mirror....things which we would normally not expect as a gift...and which is so common
and of course there were some who ask for vcd collection of drama serials...
nevertheless we got them their gifts...and most of our employees bought addtional stuff for them...i bought a football and teddy bear for a boy and girl...
but the most touching was their performance...they sang a song...i cant remember the song or lyrics..but it was something christian...but for that few minutes the entire room was quiet...except for their singing...it was the most beautiful song i ever heard...there was thunderous applause when they finished and i beleive a few tears too...
the end ;p
And then, who's going to feed me and pay my bills for the entire month?Originally posted by Angelo09:hai caring souls
