I've got plenty of old books lying around. I'll go rummage around and dig up the ones that are suitable for children.

The first book collection time will be during Club 30's 1st Anniversary Celebration feast at Suntec! Those who are donating new / used books, please turn up for the celebration so we can celebrate by eating together, and you may hand over the books to me.
The 2nd book collection time and place will be announced later. -
Hmm... would it give you guys more motivation if we were to hold a shopping for books event? Like, we pick one day, go to the major bookstores like Popular, Times and Kinokuniya, and each pick out a book / books that we want to purchase for the kids?

If you're buying books, now is a good time to go to the Bookfair at Bras Basah Complex. Thread seems to have died down...Wat's the plan for Christmas for the kids? -
A few months back, I checked with the staff at the home and they said that the children there already have events planned for the festive season. If we intend to plan something for the kids, like sponsor an outing or visit them and hold a party for them, they'd rather we organise it for 2006.Originally posted by diggo:Still have this at the back of my mind...

It's very heartbreaking to learn that they actually wish for simple, everyday stuff like hairbands, mirrors, etc for Christmas!
This makes me wonder... maybe, instead of just books, we should also see if we could get hold of other stuff for the kids. -
OK, because we all have busy schedules, we plan stuff waaaaay ahead, giving allowances for 'unforeseen circumstances'!
It seems pretty tough to rally book donations from folks. Let's persevere on though! Even if it's just five books, it's still a meaningful gift for the kids.
So, the first collection shall take place during the 1st Anniversary Feast at Kuishin-Bo! Turn up for the feast and pass me the books you'd like to donate to the kids, or arrange to meet me at Suntec near Kuishin-Bo. The date is Sat, 10 Dec.
If you can't make it on this date, it's ok... I'll announce a 2nd collection date. Or, you could always turn up at Canossaville Children's Home in Jan 2006 next year, when we hand over the books to them.
I'm thinking of planning a trip to the home just for a look-see and to see if we could plan any group visit to them in 2006. I'll probably be going in mid- to late Dec. Who's interested in coming along? It'll all be for a worthwhile cause!
