It seems pretty tough to rally book donations from folks.
Let's persevere on though! Even if it's just five books, it's still a meaningful gift for the kids. 
So, the first collection shall take place during the 1st Anniversary Feast at Kuishin-Bo! Turn up for the feast and pass me the books you'd like to donate to the kids, or arrange to meet me at Suntec near Kuishin-Bo. The date is Sat, 10 Dec.
If you can't make it on this date, it's ok... I'll announce a 2nd collection date. Or, you could always turn up at Canossaville Children's Home in Jan 2006 next year, when we hand over the books to them.
I'm thinking of planning a trip to the home just for a look-see and to see if we could plan any group visit to them in 2006. I'll probably be going in mid- to late Dec. Who's interested in coming along? It'll all be for a worthwhile cause!

It's the school holidays, right? So, I'm sure you can fork out the time!

in good working condition. juz a bit slow. come with free external moderm, mouse, keyboard....

or y not ask the children to write down their wish list also.. then we can buy them the things that they want? -

It's going to take much more resources and coordination and all that to plan a wish list thing. Unless there are folks here who are willing to commit to this and help, I won't be able to pull that off!

Now, to talk about collection... there are books, soft toys, a computer, and a stereo. Thing is, how to collect them? -
From what Peppermint shared in her post in Page 4, we all know how poor these kids are.
If you don't have books, and don't intend to purchase new books, how about donating other stuff that they would need too?
Like what Peppermint said, they even wish for things like combs!
So, this season, after getting your bonus, spare a thought for the kids and get something for them! -

I still keep my soft toys that I got as xmas presents when I was a kid. Time to dig them out.
I have been to a home or orphanage before.. but they are all muslim kids.. so we could not communicate at all...they only speak malay.

if not, we'll keep on wondering wat to get... how many to get....etc... and if we can't fix a time and venue to collect everything at once to send down, we may need a temp "warehouse" to keep the stuff... -

I hope we dun need to book a bus or whatever. I remember last time I went with girl guides, we really booked a bus and sent the stuff over..

1) The kids are primary school age (7-12);
2) There are about 90 of them; and
3) They come from broken families and a few of them are fostered out. Only two of them are orphans; and
4) This is NOT for Christmas. We'll hand them the stuff in Jan 2006. -

Can I have volunteers to help collect the items? I can meet up folks in the town / Bouna Vista / Clementi area. I need help for the other areas. I'll also need someone who has a car to volunteer to pick up the PC and store it in his/her house until we're ready to collate everything and send it to the home. -

Thrift shops... you've heard of Salvation Army's Thrift shops, right? Well, they have a similar one that operates the same way. Members of the public can turn up at their thrift shops to buy any of the items they see there.Originally posted by browniebaobao:sale? to who? -

how come a treasurer? someone to collect "donations" and go get them some stationary, bags, combs, toys etc with the $$ collected? of cos to avoid NKF scandal, accounts must be shown! -
