can lah. i actually want to volunteer at dramaplus arts but i email them no replyOriginally posted by Rhonda:OK, because we all have busy schedules, we plan stuff waaaaay ahead, giving allowances for 'unforeseen circumstances'!
It seems pretty tough to rally book donations from folks. Let's persevere on though! Even if it's just five books, it's still a meaningful gift for the kids.
So, the first collection shall take place during the 1st Anniversary Feast at Kuishin-Bo! Turn up for the feast and pass me the books you'd like to donate to the kids, or arrange to meet me at Suntec near Kuishin-Bo. The date is Sat, 10 Dec.
If you can't make it on this date, it's ok... I'll announce a 2nd collection date. Or, you could always turn up at Canossaville Children's Home in Jan 2006 next year, when we hand over the books to them.
I'm thinking of planning a trip to the home just for a look-see and to see if we could plan any group visit to them in 2006. I'll probably be going in mid- to late Dec. Who's interested in coming along? It'll all be for a worthwhile cause!
Yo, Club 30's young men like stella, deathy and Lau... you wanna volunteer to come along too or not? It's the school holidays, right? So, I'm sure you can fork out the time!
I believe the home will be happy to receive itOriginally posted by bluefrost:hi ppl . i have been directed here. wan to donate my old computer. wonder if you guys are willing to accept it?
in good working condition. juz a bit slow. come with free external moderm, mouse, keyboard....
pm me if you are interested.... but you will have to arrange for your own transport
thanks
I think that is an extremely good ideaOriginally posted by browniebaobao:Hmm I dun have children storybooks liao..
maybe can donate some soft toys..
or y not ask the children to write down their wish list also.. then we can buy them the things that they want?
As it is, I'm finding it tough to coordinate this. It's going to take much more resources and coordination and all that to plan a wish list thing. Unless there are folks here who are willing to commit to this and help, I won't be able to pull that off!Originally posted by browniebaobao:Hmm I dun have children storybooks liao..

No bonus for meOriginally posted by Rhonda:From what Peppermint shared in her post in Page 4, we all know how poor these kids are.
If you don't have books, and don't intend to purchase new books, how about donating other stuff that they would need too?
Like what Peppermint said, they even wish for things like combs! So, this season, after getting your bonus, spare a thought for the kids and get something for them!
I see whether my sis and buddy will want to donate their hello kitty soft toys away or not. They have the full collection.. really take up space.Originally posted by elindra:No bonus for me
But I have a lot of soft toys to donate.
I think maybe stationary and stuff might be good too especially for school
Do you know how many kids are there?
I mean if we can pool together an 'study essentials' goodie bag, it might be good.
Thats a great idea! Exercise books, pens, pencils, highlighters, erasers, rulers...Originally posted by elindra:I mean if we can pool together an 'study essentials' goodie bag, it might be good.
Ya. Need to liaise with them first ba.. let them know what we are bringing..Originally posted by tare:if we want anything to be done for xmas we gotta act fast
rhonda think we need more info. and directions. like how old r the kids? how many of them? otherwise we might have to do wat peppermint did so to find out wat to get for them...
if not, we'll keep on wondering wat to get... how many to get....etc... and if we can't fix a time and venue to collect everything at once to send down, we may need a temp "warehouse" to keep the stuff...

har? Jan? My common test and project presentations period!!Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah, I need volunteers! I desperately need volunteers!!
OK, the details once more...
1) The kids are primary school age (7-12);
2) There are about 90 of them; and
3) They come from broken families and a few of them are fostered out. Only two of them are orphans; and
4) This is NOT for Christmas. We'll hand them the stuff in Jan 2006.
Oh!Originally posted by browniebaobao:har? Jan? My common test and project presentations period!!
actually the details can be found from the website..
sale? to who?Originally posted by Rhonda:Oh!
I've spoken to one of the staff there and I got the details from him. He says even if the kids cannot use the stuff, they can put it in their thrift shop for sale.
Thrift shops... you've heard of Salvation Army's Thrift shops, right? Well, they have a similar one that operates the same way. Members of the public can turn up at their thrift shops to buy any of the items they see there.Originally posted by browniebaobao:sale? to who?

it's easy to find volunteer who drive.. but store the stuffs too? hmmm.....Originally posted by Rhonda:What we need to do so far :
1) Collect PC from bluefrost.
2) Collect books from ^spidee^, av98m and Deathy.
3) Collect soft toys from elindra. (This one's easy! )
Who else?? What else??
People, if you wanna donate stuff to the kids, please be more specific!
Can I have volunteers to help collect the items? I can meet up folks in the town / Bouna Vista / Clementi area. I need help for the other areas. I'll also need someone who has a car to volunteer to pick up the PC and store it in his/her house until we're ready to collate everything and send it to the home.
Ah...good, good. I can meet you in Clementi.Originally posted by Rhonda:What we need to do so far :
