  SL, do you think you could ask your sis-in-law if your nieces have books that they've ougrown and she'd like to donate? I forgot to ask her last night.

  Hi guys, just stumbled upon this thread. I don't often go into Club 30.... Military Nuts and Speaker's Corner are my usual hangouts.
  
  Anyway, I've got a load of Three Investigators books under my bed. I used to go nuts reading all the stories when I was young. Now that I'm older, though, they've been stashed in a plastic container in my bed, and I hardly (if ever) touch them anymore.
  
  The books themselves are still readable. Unfortunately, the covers are, well, in various states of degradation.
  
  You guys want my books?

  I don't have my roster for the next two weeks yet so I won't know when I'll be free.

  Early next week, I'll go and give the home a call to fix a date for us to bring the things down.
  
  After that date is fixed, I'll have to quickly make appointments to meet those of you who are donating things to the home.

  Interesting turn of events!
  
  I just called up Canossaville Children's Home to fix a date and was told that they received so many book donations over the festive period that they no longer need books!! So far, I've only collected from fudgester this afternoon. Phew! Thank goodness I haven't crawled all over the island to collect all the books yet!
  
  Canossaville referred me to another children's home, the Chin Swee Lan Methodist Children's Home at Serangoon and this home would like to have the books instead. So, fudgester, your books and SL's soft toys will land there.
  
  I checked to see if the Home would arrange pick-up of books and such from the rest of you but they don't have the resources to do that.
  
  If you still want to donate your books, I'll urge you to drop off the books at the Home yourself if you're in the vicinity. The phone no. for the Chin Swee Lan Methodist Children's Home is 62854941 and you can either call them first and drop the books off during office hours or you could just drive up anytime and leave them at the guard house.
  
  I'm quite surprised at the turn of events because last September, when I spoke to them, things seemed a bit different. I guess Canossaville really received a lotta lotta books during the Christmas period.

  The Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's Home is at 202 Serangoon Garden Way Singapore. Shall we collect the books and toys and deliver it to that place? Anyone been there already?

  I went there yesterday, took a taxi at Ang Mo Kio MRT to Serangoon Garden Way, which was pretty secluded. The home is pretty big and new, and has facilities like a basketball court. Didn't manage to see any kids though, cos the person in-charge didn't invite me in.
