Any recommendations for a sewing machine for beginners?
Can neaten edge, sew button holes, err stuff like that.. (any other fancy stuff tt would be great?)
Not too expensive..

As for neatening the seams, although the usual sewing machines can do that, there's a dedicated machine just for that function that gives you much better results that no sewing machine can match.

OK, those machines for neatening the raw hemlines are called 'Overlocks'. Here's a basic model :
My mom had one, it was fun to watch her use it.
Step on the pedals and it goes zzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! Very fast!

I have a Sakura sewing machine which can do those things SC mentioned, plus fancy zig-zag patterns, hemming, etc. (about $290+). Best Denki at IMM has at least 2 brands and several models to try out. Think the promoter there for Sakura is Anne...very friendly, if she's still there.

But like I said, the folks I spoke to were avid sewers. And they all happened to swear by Elna, although they weren't all acquainted. They've also used several models of sewing machines before, or knew others who did, and their verdict was that Elna was still their preferred brand.
I'm listening to them when I finally decide to make that purchase. -

I thought the true dude will simply continue to wear it and hope that somehow, everyone will be blind to the little imperfections? -

not yet.. have been pretty busy lately.. and can't remember when was the last time i shopped for anything...
hmm i'm short so.. wld be nice to have it to shorten every blardy thing i buy. and guess it will be fun to make all those things u know.. uhh.. cushion covers thingy... bags.. i dunno... i like making things.
then again.. flunked my home econs so... still thinking whether i'll really use it before i purchase...
