Emigrate and Migrate.

  i noticed a lot of people in this forum use the word migrate instead of emigrate to express ones intention of leaving his own country in order to settle permanently in another.
  
  migrate actually means (of an animal) moving from one habitat to another according to the seasons'. it is used only a for temporary situation.
  
  anyone has a better explanation?

  just like the meaning of words change over time
  
  there is no such word as "flammable" but it is accepted anyway until one day, it turns up in the dictionary...
  
  words like "bling" have also made it to dictionaries..
  
  however, a terribly misused word in Singapore remains "send"
  
  when you send someone home, you actually mean you tell the person to go home and you stay where you are..
