Hi folks
Just came back from Bali. Was passing by that Kuta Raja Rest. on Sat afternoon and then it got bombed on Sat evening! We were walking around looking for dinner and heard the bomb explosion from a street away, and thought it was a kitchen gas explosion...that it, until we returned to the hotel and saw the news...sad sad.
Other than Kuta-Legian, Jimbaran and the south, the other parts of Bali are still relatively safe, e.g. ppl in Ubud are absolutely not bothered at all. Also, prices have increased somewhat, esp. transport cost which have doubled since 1 Oct then the govt cut out the oil fuel subsidies. -

Next year, if I ever visit Bali, I'll probably be departing from Australia!!!
I've never been there before, but mom and dad have been there twice and they loved it both times.
Maybe, as a small reward to myself, and as a stress-reliever from all the migratory efforts etc. I should go visit Bali 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2006!

Nusa Dua is in the south - the area where most 5-star resorts are, inc. the lovely Club Med (where I'd stayed >12 yrs ago). I believe their security would be more stringent, e.g. the security ppl of the bigger resorts used a mirror to check the under-carriage of vehicles.
It may be a good idea to avoid restaurants and pubs favoured by mostly westerners.
