The price of diamonds could be on the way down.
You can get a nice, decent branded bag that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like Gucci. There are also non-branded bags available at stores here that are pretty and not available branded. I believe that having one or two branded bags is more than enough, you can purchase the rest from neighbourhood shopping malls.Originally posted by Fatum:heh .... you think so ? ....
what would a woman prefer ? ... a real Gucci bag ... or a fake pasar malam knock off ? ...
the only way you perhaps save your pocket i reckon ... other than to look for a low-maintenance wifey .... would be perhaps to look for one allergic to precious metals and gems (thankfully, some women do have such allergies ... really !)

I wonder if theres a chance diamond prices will plummet in the future? Maybe down to the price of sapphires.. If Apollo were to take control of the market companies like De Beers are going to take a plunge?Originally posted by the Bear:nope.. they'll be outlawed outright by the Geneva Convention...
lasers blind more than kill..
p.s. try to think more on ways to help humanity.. it's easier to destroy than to create.. and like JFK challenged the people: we do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard..
do the right things.. no matter how difficult they may be...
dang.. my mineralogy or gemology sux....Originally posted by the Bear:i have terrible news for you.. good sapphires are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!
i like white sapphires.. they're almost indistinguishable from diamonds.. and almost as hard..
on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being diamond, sapphires come in at 9

ok but I do know that topazes are definitely cheaper.. right?
anyway i was expecting rubies to be more expensive than sapphires.. i.e. a flawed ruby worth more than a flawless sapphire

OK, recently, I had an encounter at the shop where I had my 2nd pair of earholes pierced. The salesgirl was trying very hard to sell me a pair of diamond earrings, which cost almost three times the cost of the pair of zircon earrings which I had chosen.
She exclaimed, "Look at how lovely the shine of the diamond is!"
I looked at my friend, my friend looked at me... we couldn't tell the difference. OK, so it sparkled. So did the zircon!
So, she placed the pair of diamond earring beside the zircon earrings. Aaaahhh... yup, the diamond ones sparkled more brilliantly. But you could only tell when you place the diamond and the zircon ones together. Apart, you really wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
So, I smiled and said, "I don't see the necessity for getting a pair of diamond earrings."
As a last-ditch attempt, she said, "All women love diamonds! Give yourself a treat!"
So, my lovely pair of zircon earrings now take pride of place above the pair of earrings in my first pierced earhole.
I refuse to be a slave to the diamond obsession... especially when Swarovski crystals and zircons and what-not now sparkle just as brilliantly, and cost just a fraction.
But hmm... all said, I think the wedding ring should still have a diamond and not the other stones. Afterall, that's the 'Mother of All Rings' that a woman owns!
Hmm... yeah, it is!!Originally posted by shade343:Diamond is Carbon.

Em.. I thought that was already a fact when we studied chem many yrs back?Originally posted by Rhonda:Hmm... yeah, it is!!
the "mother" of all rings won't be a mother if Apollo diamonds are able to mass market CVD diamonds..Originally posted by Rhonda:I love love love opals! You can glance in one, and see the shimmery 'fire' of colours in it, and be mesmerised for a looooong time!

Western Australia is full of them. I have a small box full of stones containing streaks of opal of various sizes - they're what's left after the gem has been cut from the rock. I got it at no cost.Originally posted by Rhonda:I love love love opals! You can glance in one, and see the shimmery 'fire' of colours in it, and be mesmerised for a looooong time!
