Izzit? I remember Ged saying it was snowing in Melbourne just a month or so ago!Originally posted by charlize:Aussie winters are mild.
Nothing that a sweater can't take care of.
As long as you don't see the temperature drop below zero, there is nothing to worry about. Trust me, I have seen people walking in bermudas and T's.Originally posted by Rhonda:Izzit? I remember Ged saying it was snowing in Melbourne just a month or so ago!

stock up on lemsip or any flu or cold medicine. the moment u start feeling unwell, drink LOTS of fluids and bundle up warm especially at night when u sleep. try to make sure the place u stay in has proper hot water and heating.Originally posted by Rhonda:OK, I really really need all the advice I can get here! I know there are quite a few of you who are living / working / studying overseas, or who travel frequently. So, could you please provide tips on how to get by the Four Seasons?
Spring and Summer should be pretty ok... it's Autumn and especially Winter, that I fear! I've never ever seen snow before. I've also never experienced Autumn and Winter.
BTW, I'm heading for Melbourne next year.

If you were in some parts of the States, in Canada or Northern Europe, then you might have cause for worry.

And whoa... the food sure sounds nice! I've heard it said that people usually put on weight in winter, is that true?
Orh... I guess I ought to be over there when it's late Spring / Autumn. That should give me time to purchase winterwear, I guess. I hope!!Originally posted by Fatum:Rhonda, save your money and not buy any cold weather clothes in singapore,
1. they are crappy and expensive, and most of them look really obiang ....
2. you won't know the conditions over there till you experience it for yourself first hand ...
learnt it all the hard way ....
as for gaining weight ....

Whoa!! Look at that hill of snow!! BBBbbbbrrrrrrrr!!!Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Rhonda,
The advice about buying winter clothes at the destination is spot on. Don't waste your money attempting to buy them in Singapore.
As long as the temps remain above freezing, you should be able to make do with a sweater. Also bear in mind that you'll probably bundle up less as you get used to winters there.
Hopefully, winters in Melbourne don't look like this:
That's an image taken during infamous Winter of '97/'98 here in MN. It wasn't particularly cold that winter, but, boy, did it snow!
