We've talked abt this with choco B who's going there soon....Siam square, Mah Boon Krong, weekend Chatuchak mkt, and some night mkt somewhere.
If you have more time, can go west to Kanchanaburi and spend a couple of days (Bridge on River Kwai, JEATH railway/museum which are WWII relics), or visit the King's summer palace or something (forgot the name) which is a really nice park like 1-2 hrs from BKK (it's not the other palace that looks like temple).
Best of all, remember to eat the authentic Thai food and snacks. Have fun! -

Try heading to Chatuchak. you'll find lotsa stuffs there.
bargain the price for at least 50%. you'll be surprise they actually raise it to 5 % more before letting you have that bargain -

but i'd still advise taking a cab there, the streets there aren't exactly built for pedestrains ...
if you're staying near Siam Square, look out for this resturant called, if my memory serves, Cute Chicken or something ... they serve fantastic north-eastern Thai food ... a Thai friend brought me over there .... Isan food is fantastic ! ...
you can't miss it ... they have a cute cartoon chicken on their logo ... -
