It's good to test your patience before you marry....you'll need lots of it after the marriage.Originally posted by Nelstar:The Government needs to reconsider ROM registration... to allow more couples to marry on the date they want by having more solemnization.
Imagine having to queue to marry.
Date 1 cannot, wait date 2 cannot, wait, date 3 cannot.
Wait until the couple also dont want to have babies liao.

I think before we get carried away, maybe reading the ROM website itself would help.Originally posted by the Bear:nah.. it's a conspiracy..
or more, it's what they call "guan xi"..
but coming from a place like ROM, it stinks and it's shady enough to be called a conspiracy
I agree about the 'industrial' feel of solemnising one's marriage in the ROM.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:Err actually I felt that to register ur marriage at ROM is very ...
industrial. Pop in.. say your words... pop out. A bit like being on those production belt.
It is much more convenient to just call up a JP (out of the huge list provided) and do it at the venue u want, the time u like...
The cost of inviting a JP is really up to you. They do it as a volunteer work. I just gave a small angpow for good luck and a little gift of 'flower tea'. Popular JPs help to make the atmosphere more 'fun' but they are very difficult to book. I got a friend to recommend me one -beams at friend- and he was pretty good too. If you want, can pass you his contact.
I did it at Changi beach so venue is free. So the only other thing I paid for was food. Actually parks are great. Just find those with ready made shelters and get a friend to 'chope' it for you lah!
