The thread in AA about birds driving this guy crazy is funny....reminds me of my Bali trip:
1st nite at Kuta: a rat jumped onto my leg while I was in bed at this hotel *Eeeekkkss!*
(next morning immediately checked out!)
One nite at Ubud: the guesthouse was shared/surrounded by other winged residents - chickens, roosters, ducks and their babies, etc. ..imagine the cacophony in the wee hours of the morning.
One nite near the crater Batu/lake: the guesthouse we stayed at was engulfed in a symphony of le doggies from 12 midnite till morn! *Ooowwwwuuu.... *
So memorable. -

The most amazing thing was seeing Malay-looking ppl living together with dogs, handling dogs, stroking dogs which they keep as pets. We even saw one scooter ferrying 4 passengers - the chief rider man, a woman and child riding pillon behind, and their furry dog (which stood in front of the driver).
ps: 85% of Balinese are Hindus; and yes, they eat roast suckling pig. -
