Slapped at pool for being 'rude' to wife
ON THURSDAY I was at my friend's condominium, Bishan8, for a class barbecue when we had a most shocking encounter.
My friends were swimming in the pool in PE shorts and T-shirts when a security guard told us that a couple sitting on the other side of the pool had complained that we were not properly attired.
The guard said that it was not against the rules but he had to act on the complaint. Upon checking the rules, we found that we were allowed to wear our own clothes in the pool and my friends continued to swim.
The woman approached us and started yelling Hokkien vulgarities at my friends and my friend's mother. My friend told her to stop verbally abusing her mother and the woman yelled: 'You want to fight, come up and fight, lah!'
A while later, her husband went up to my friend, shoved her and slapped her on the face for being 'rude' to his wife. Mind you, this was a 15-year-old girl who was half his size.
When we yelled at him in indignation, his wife showed my other friends the middle finger.
As a 15-year-old, I am appalled at the behaviour of these adults. They portray the ugly side of Singaporeans and give Singaporeans a bad name.
I hope that we can do something to change the mindsets of such people: that they are educated and therefore are above everybody else.

this is not the first time something like that has happened.
what i dont understand is why singaporeans like to say things after the fact.
she should have called the police and bring him to court. why let him go scot-free.
it is wrong to slap someone, let along a teenager, especially one unrelated. -
That guy could actually be reported for assault I think.

but you notice that such people has a tendency to seek out their own kind in their maritial unions ? ...... I suppose they are the only people who can stand each other ....
It's just something i've noticed ... a sweet wifey will almost invariably have an even tempered hubby too ...... heaven's little way of evening things out perhaps ? ....
In anycase .... I hope that couple does not have any children ..... imagine how their kids would turn out ......

lol i think that woman here is much worst off than the guy who did the slapping.It just seems so to me that she was the one who after challenging for a fight,did not get it,went back to tell a bias version of what happened to make it look like the girl is rude to her thus making the husband that angry enough to come slap the girl.
No doubt the guy here need to be punished by the law for assaulting the young girl,but if i have to say,the woman was the instigator who should be given a heavier sentence.
agree with others here that the police should be called.
Writting to the forums to request the govt to do something to educated such people is of no use.How to we educate such adults when such adults think that they know everything.Those stuff like courtesy campaign are like useless to most adults -

i have an even tempered colleague who married an animal for a wife. she is always grouchy, whining, yelling and shouting. she is rude to every living thing. the ironic thing is on numberous occasions i heard her saying on the phone "mommy is taking to you, why are you not answering me?" thats her daughter on the line. i wonder if it ever crossed her mind that her daughter is exhibiting the same behaviour. she is treating her mother the way she treats people. karma!!!!! -
anyway.. she should report this to the police. but i doubt anything can be done, no proof and all that...

i won't say its a certainty that happens la. but haha its true to most people. that they would seek out partners of similar character traits!
but back to the topic. if u were the person there, and ur female friend got slapped. what would u hv done? -

let me share an experience with you.
i was at simei ntuc queuing to pay for my purchases. i heard shouting and saw a couple, in their late 20s yelling at a cashier.
this was briefly what he said "you know how to calculate or not. i am only trying to help you. are you stupid?"
i approached the couple and said, "she is only a cashier earning a low salary. if you are trying to help her just leave the money, why insult her? if you are so smart you wont be here queuing here will you?"
can you believe it? all the yelling and insult because of a 15 cts discrepancy. do you think they are really trying to help? anyway the couple gave the middle finger and hurled obsencities before walking off.
so much for their helpfulness. -

getting into a fight will only let him get away.
i will also help if he/she is a kid, or a lady who is unrelated to me. -
can't really blame the security guard,he is in charge of security not a mediator/customer service,so hardly can blame him for not know the rules well and applying them.He is trapped in between and so just hope that since he cannot calm down this couple,he is looking to see if the other side will try to be cooperative.Originally posted by huiz:of coz get angry...see if the fren wanna call police then go wif her.

no leh, hubby good-tempered doesnt mean the wife has to be that way oso...in fact they shud be complementary, best if one has a bad tempered and the other has a good one so when the bad temper surfaces, the one with good temper can soothe and console him...
and anyway, yea pls dun bring up the christians are advised to marry christians thing, I have gone thru that and I have heard a lot of horror stories abt dat oso... -

if security guard saw it and willing to testify against them, report police, else push them into the pool...accident always happens.

it is a lose lose situation, since u're already being slapped, and u report oso no use, because you need alibi and proof, which are hard to get.
finish it with your own justice lor.
