Five secs into reading your first post in this thread, i thought i was back in office and was the one posting the entry.
coz i deal with similar situations occasionally and so.. i totally understand your need to RANT about this.
unfortunately, i can't share with all here my RANTS (about dealing w/ overseas principals) coz among the many reasons...
once i start, i can't stop!
anyway, hope your RANT helps to relieve your frustrations somehow! all the best to your boss & u!

Elindra, it's good to rant cuz it kinda takes the stress off and who knows, someone here might just offer a 'creative' solution!
stella, we're amongst friends here so why should you shoo elindra away to AA to rant? I'd rather rant with folks who know me than to total strangers who'll just offer you the same ol' cliche responses.
Anyways elindra, it was kinda shocking - a grad who cannot even draft his own letters?!

I think everyone knows at least one such character at work. And yes they are bad for the blood pressure. I've had to write SOPs for bloody simple things that should be commonsense just so people can understand what I'm trying to tell them to do. One such character even has an advanced degree. Can vomit blood. And these are not my subordinates somemore, by right they are senior to me.
And then there are clowns that ask me the same questions multiple times instead of trying to remember the instructions the first time. Its like their brains run on RAM memory, not ROM.
Sorry for hijacking your rant. Back to the regularly scheduled rant.
