From Princess to commoner...

Wow... Princess Sayako, the 36-yr old daughter of Japan's Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, became a commoner yesterday after she married a Tokyo govt official.
She was given a special one-time allowance of 152 million yen (S$2 million), from the govt.
Gee, what a huge huge sacrifice! Wondering how she'll take to the transition.

According to the papers, the Princess pick up the newspapers and stuff like that for the family every morning -

i think she's really courageous.... to choose when and who she wanna marry... tho tat allowance was rather little -

In the beginning, it might seem 'fun' cause there's a novelty to it, it's new broom sweeps clean.
Later, she'll realise the huge difference between her present situation and what she's spent the past 36 years accustomed to in the palace.
But then again, I don't think she'll be a 'true' commoner... she'll probably have maids to handle the laundry and dish-washing and floor-mopping and toilet-scrubbing and what-not.
And also, being an ex-Princess with parents who are still royals, don't think the husband would dare to do stuff like be unfaithful and have affairs and what-not!

heck! i've seen some "princesses" too..
especially when i went over to Melbourne to studies.. i was so surprised that so many of the girls who went over, could not do the most basic of chores and were lost in a supermarket, unable to figure things out there when they followed us guys to the place..
however, a willingness to learn is all one needs to adapt quickly
a lot of them learnt quickly and those who did not, ended up being "unable to bear it" and went home! -

I'm not sure about the "rich" part. How long would 152 million yen (S$2 million) last in japan? Have a feeling it won't buy you much. Ah well at least the husband has stable job .
