Well, the govt thinks that they can get away with paying people a pittance and yet expecting high-quality professionalism and what-not under bad working conditions. Let's see how long they can get away with it.Originally posted by the Bear:think about this..
in Philippines, doctors are quitting and going to other countries to work as nurses because they get paid better..
this is the same to a lesser extent here.. people are leaving because they are paid better elsewhere..
leaving us with a shortage of necessary people...
oh well...
anyway, there was a maniac from PETA going around Orchard Road today.. telling people to go vegetarian... nice idea.. however, it'll end up destroying the world's ecological balance... stupid people
i still call them People Eating Tasty Animals

It all dependsOriginally posted by the Bear:not necessarily..
if you offer your professionals a reason to stay, they will...
if you treat them like dirt, they'll go...
simple as that
The thing is, it's broken, and the hole is getting larger and larger every year, and yet, they must be myopic or something, cuz year after year, they do not face the facts and instead, beautify the statistics that are being published.Originally posted by stellazio:their logic is.."if it ain't broken, don't fix it"..
as long as it doesn't bothers their good life, they won't change it..

There is great discontent and unhappiness with the resultant low morale. Alarmingly, fresh graduates who are less than 3 months into the job are already speaking of quitting after their bond ends too! Now, if that's not a bad sign, I don't know what is.
The fellas up there are myopic AND they are like turkeys - they just bury their little heads in the sand and what they do not see, doesn't exist!
1 more day to goOriginally posted by the Bear:heh heh heh.. but it's thursday...
Well, not exactly easy for you to go anywhere either!Originally posted by sbst275:It all depends
Like lots of Malaysian Chinese esp those capable ones ditch their homeland for Singapore, Australia, UK...

Oops... wrong poultry!Originally posted by the Bear:turkeys do not bury their heads...
ostriches are supposed to.. but they do not either.. just an urban myth
hahaha, is sumthing supposed to NOT happen on thursdays?Originally posted by the Bear:heh heh heh.. but it's thursday...
It is not easy..Originally posted by Rhonda:Well, not exactly easy for you to go anywhere either!
Firstly, you're a family man. Not exactly easy to plan for a move like that.
Secondly, do you meet the visa requirements? They're not exactly easy to fulfill. The more 'popular' countries are becoming more and more stringent.
Australia, despite needing nurses like all other countries, have increased their IELTS requirements - it's no longer enough to score at least 6.5 overall, now, they scrutinize every single component and even though you have an overall of 6.5, if any one of the components fall below 6.5, too bad, you've gotta repeat IELTS!
Thank God I cleared IELTS!!
ANd oh, thirdly, can you go boldly and start life in a new land? Not all can do that because it takes certain attributes. I sure hope I can make it there, although I am more than certain I can!
I think Malaysian Chinese have it good.Originally posted by sbst275:It all depends

They can easily cross over to neighbouring Singapore to work and the currency exchange is very much in their favour!
All they need to do is come here, study, work and save up, then when they return, whoa... they can live comfortably!
Originally posted by kopiosatu:hahaha, is sumthing supposed to NOT happen on thursdays?
Sarsi's sassaparila taste is stronger.Originally posted by sbst275:From what I see, Sarsi has lesser creamy taste
