anyway, there was a maniac from PETA going around Orchard Road today.. telling people to go vegetarian... nice idea.. however, it'll end up destroying the world's ecological balance... stupid people

Let's see how long they can get away with it.
The sad thing is, even the foreigners who used to come here in droves, are now either giving us a wide berth, or, coming here as a stepping stone to 'better' countries.
Wages aren't the only thing that ridiculous, but it is one huge thing cuz wages affect your morale, your standard of living, etc. Imagine, a plane flight away to Aussieland and I get more than double my current income! And despite the higher taxation levels there, I'll still make considerably more and be able to afford a much better standard of living, than if I were to remain here.
I remember in Social Geography in Sec 1 or 2, we studied the Push-Pull Migratory Factors. Here, we have a perfect example of a huge Push and even larger Pull factor at work!
Alarm bells should be sounding when even the very senior staff are uprooting their families to work elsewhere. -

Like lots of Malaysian Chinese esp those capable ones ditch their homeland for Singapore, Australia, UK...
While here in Singapore, ppl also leave for Australia...
For me, I would stay here... Lots of things not willing to give up -

The fellas up there are myopic AND they are like turkeys - they just bury their little heads in the sand and what they do not see, doesn't exist!

Firstly, you're a family man. Not exactly easy to plan for a move like that.
Secondly, do you meet the visa requirements? They're not exactly easy to fulfill. The more 'popular' countries are becoming more and more stringent.
Australia, despite needing nurses like all other countries, have increased their IELTS requirements - it's no longer enough to score at least 6.5 overall, now, they scrutinize every single component and even though you have an overall of 6.5, if any one of the components fall below 6.5, too bad, you've gotta repeat IELTS!
Thank God I cleared IELTS!!
ANd oh, thirdly, can you go boldly and start life in a new land? Not all can do that because it takes certain attributes. I sure hope I can make it there, although I am more than certain I can! -

They can easily cross over to neighbouring Singapore to work and the currency exchange is very much in their favour!
All they need to do is come here, study, work and save up, then when they return, whoa... they can live comfortably!

Malaysian students many prefer studying in SG, when wanna go home can just take bus back... Easy for them... Anyway easy for them to fit into SG culture as well -
