The recent thread here about a man getting stung by stonefish in Sentosa's lagoon is one good reason why you shouldn't walk barefoot by the beach.
On soil, grass and sand, you're not only prone to glass shards, sharp metal pieces and other sharp objects that could have been discarded, you're also exposing yourself to certain organisms that can pierce through your epithelial layer and wreck havoc inside you.
I've come across two cases recently where the men walked around barefoot on soil and one came down with Tetanus, the other, with a lesser-known virus that went into his system via a cut on his knee and is now causing multi-organ failure and an amputation.
If you have kids, or know folks who have kids, pass this info on to them. It's better to be safe than sorry!

coz, heck, walking with flip flops is faster on sand and easier on the soles
I think you will have a higher chance of being killed in a car accident than to contract this type of disease.Originally posted by Rhonda:Well, you've been informed! The decision lies with you!
Honestly, after seeing what happened, no way I'll walk around barefoot anymore, man! I used to walk by the beach barefoot but no more!! Don't wanna sit in a wheelchair for the rest of my life, wondering 'If only...'
I think that was exactly what those two blokes thought too!Originally posted by Gazelle:I think you will have a higher chance of being killed in a car accident than to contract this type of disease.
Precisely!!Originally posted by elindra:I bet the poor bloke who stepped on the stone fish had the same idea
If you are so paranoid about all this one in a million accidents, I think you should just lock yourself up in a clean room and consume canned food.Originally posted by elindra:I bet the poor bloke who stepped on the stone fish had the same idea
at this rate, i'll stay at homeOriginally posted by Rhonda:I guess if you must, then make sure you don't have any broken skin or open wounds on your feet, knees and legs.

If you choose not to heed any warnings at all, then should you ever suffer a mishap such as the stonefish incident, taxpayers shouldn't be made to subsidise your medical costs.Originally posted by Gazelle:If you are so paranoid about all this one in a million accidents, I think you should just lock yourself up in a clean room and consume canned food.
Better to be save than sorry. I bet you have heard alot of freak accidents with canned foodOriginally posted by Gazelle:If you are so paranoid about all this one in a million accidents, I think you should just lock yourself up in a clean room and consume canned food.

Don't need to plus I do wear footwear whereever I go, not because I'm paranoid about freak accidents like those stated above but because I hate to get my feet dirty.
Anyway, you never know when an accident will happen.
Yeah I never believed in accident insurance and I only bought one after that stupid auto-accident I was in.Originally posted by Rhonda:[/color]
Yeah, if we can predict 'accidents', then, they won't be called 'accidents'.
Ah well, just wanted everyone to know this so that all can make informed decisions.
i think this has like a million in one chance in occuring to anyone here, but then again, better safe then sorryOriginally posted by Rhonda:... on soil, grass, sand, or at the beach.

Btw, there are been many cases of husband murdering their wife in Singapore, so why are you still getting married?Originally posted by elindra:Better to be save than sorry. I bet you have heard alot of freak accidents with canned food
