Sigh... like I said, it's for info, and it's up to you whether you want to risk it or not.Originally posted by iveco:I see a lot of people going about bare-footed in Perth. One of them was the former president of my student union.
Actually from what I see, the stone fish should be one suing because he is there, lying on the sand minding his business and someone steps on himOriginally posted by Rhonda:Sigh... like I said, it's for info, and it's up to you whether you want to risk it or not.
Just make sure that if something should happen, don't go kpkb and start suing the govt, Mother Nature, and the fishes in the sea!

Well, there are always irresponsible park usersOriginally posted by Rhonda:... on soil, grass, sand, or at the beach.
The recent thread here about a man getting stung by stonefish in Sentosa's lagoon is one good reason why you shouldn't walk barefoot by the beach.
On soil, grass and sand, you're not only prone to glass shards, sharp metal pieces and other sharp objects that could have been discarded, you're also exposing yourself to certain organisms that can pierce through your epithelial layer and wreck havoc inside you.
I've come across two cases recently where the men walked around barefoot on soil and one came down with Tetanus, the other, with a lesser-known virus that went into his system via a cut on his knee and is now causing multi-organ failure and an amputation.
If you have kids, or know folks who have kids, pass this info on to them. It's better to be safe than sorry!
